    Abstract: A load control system has a system controller and a plurality of load control devices which receive power from a utility power source. The load control system also at least one emergency load control device which receives power from a backup power source in the event of a power failure of the utility power source. The emergency load control device is configured to enter an emergency mode during the power failure of the utility power source, wherein in the emergency mode, the emergency load control device controls respective electrical loads according to emergency mode preset settings, and the emergency load control device transmits a message to the system controller to indicate the emergency load control device is in the emergency mode. The system controller is configured to transmit a message to the emergency load control device to exit the emergency mode when power from the utility power source is restored.

    Abstract: A load control system may include devices for performing communications for controlling an amount of power provided to an electrical load. The devices may include load control devices that may communicate by transmitting digital messages. A user device having an adjustable wireless communication range may be used for discovering devices, configuring devices, and/or diagnosing devices in the load control system. The user device may detect whether devices are within an established wireless communication range of one another for performing communications. The user device may detect digital messages transmitted from a device and/or digital messages received at a device to determine whether the digital messages are correctly communicated in the load control system. The user device may provide an indication to a user indicating whether a digital message is correctly transmitted or received by a device in the load control system.

The control-target devices may enter an association mode to associate with control-source devices. The control-target device may receive an identifier from the control-source device and store the identifier in memory when the control-target device to associate the control-target device and the control-source device. The system controller may retrieve the association information from the control-target device after integration into the load control system. The system controller may receive association information that is defined using other association procedures, such as an association procedure performed on a network device and uploaded to the system controller. The system controller may maintain the association information defined using the different association procedures after the system controller is integrated into the load control system. The system controller may also maintain control configuration information configured prior to integration of the system controller.
