A method and apparatus for communicating resource activation details are disclosed. A method of resource activation by a group application server may include requesting, by the group application server, establishment of a distributed resource to be established in a broadcast area and an indication of profess to establish the distributed resource, and receiving a first notification at the group application server. The first notification may be indicative of progress in the establishment of the distributed resource and may be received before the distributed resource is established in the broadcast area.

A process for resolving call collisions in a digital conventional direct mode includes monitoring a direct mode communication channel for transmissions from other direct mode radios in the plurality of direct mode radios. In response to detecting a new call request: identifying a last radio to transmit on the direct mode channel, transmitting a new call request for receipt by the last direct mode radio to transmit, monitoring the direct mode channel for a response from the last radio to transmit, and if a call grant granting the new call request is received from the last radio to transmit, initiating the new direct mode call on the direct mode communication channel. If the call grant is not received, at least temporarily refraining from initiating the new direct mode call.

One example device facilitates activation of a radio device includes an electronic processor configured to select the radio device from a plurality of types of unactivated radio devices. Each radio device of the plurality of types of unactivated radio devices may be factory loaded with a global firmware and a global codeplug. The electronic computing device may be configured to determine at least one of a region-specific codeplug version and a region-specific regulatory restriction based on a desired region of operation, and associate the at least one of the region-specific codeplug version and the region-specific regulatory restriction with a unique identifier of the radio device that are configured to be transmitted to the radio device to activate the radio device for communication within the region of operation in response to receiving an indication that the radio device has been powered-up for a first time for operation by a customer.

A communication system (200) is formed of a base station comprising a main base station receiver with a main base station antenna (202) and a secondary receiver with a secondary antenna (212). The secondary receiver detects interference to the main base station antenna (202) causing reduced communications range for communicating with subscriber units (204). The secondary receiver rotates a receiver null (228) of the secondary antenna (212) to reduce the interference in response thereto. The communication system (200) performs a voting decision that selects between the secondary receiver with rotated receiver null and the main base station receiver (104) with reduced communications range, to mitigate the interference to main base station antenna (102).

A device, method and system for controlling provisioning of a mobile device is provided. An example devices determines, upon power-up, a status of a provisioning flag. The example device, in response to the provisioning flag comprising a first state associated with an out-of-box update mode, implements a first provisioning stage associated with a first communication system according to the out-of-box update mode. The example device, in response to the provisioning flag comprising a second state associated with a post-deployment update mode, implements the first provisioning stage associated with the first communication system according to the post-deployment update mode different from the out-of-box update mode. The example device implements a second provisioning stage for one or more of the second communication system and an operating system implemented at the mobile device.
