Abstract:
A process for consolidating location-dependent information in a two-way radio system includes determining a geographic location of each subscriber unit in a group of subscriber units active within a radio frequency (RF) coverage area of a base station (BS), determining a single representative geographic location for the group of subscriber units based on their geographic locations, requesting location-dependent information from a content provider using the representative geographic location, and causing the location-dependent information to be broadcast within the RF coverage area.
Abstract:
A multitenant private communication system and a method for providing mobility and access control across tenant boundaries in the multitenant private communication system. The method includes receiving a first connection request from a user device for connection to first network infrastructure of a first tenant and establishing a connection between the user device and a first private sub-network of the first tenant through the first network infrastructure. The method further includes receiving a second connection request from the user device for connection to second network infrastructure of a second tenant of the multitenant private communication system and determining whether the second network infrastructure is a guest network infrastructure of the user device. The method also includes establishing a connection between the user device and the first private sub-network through the second network infrastructure when the second network infrastructure is the guest network infrastructure of the user device.

Abstract:
A process for resolving call collisions in a digital conventional direct mode includes monitoring a direct mode communication channel for transmissions from other direct mode radios in the plurality of direct mode radios. In response to detecting a new call request: identifying a last radio to transmit on the direct mode channel, transmitting a new call request for receipt by the last direct mode radio to transmit, monitoring the direct mode channel for a response from the last radio to transmit, and if a call grant granting the new call request is received from the last radio to transmit, initiating the new direct mode call on the direct mode communication channel. If the call grant is not received, at least temporarily refraining from initiating the new direct mode call.
Abstract:
A process for connecting a user equipment to a radio access network in which communication frequencies are dynamically allocated from a shared radio spectrum. In operation, the user equipment maintains a radio frequency scan list that indicates a prioritized order with which a plurality of radio frequencies selected from the shared radio spectrum are to be scanned. The user equipment scans the radio frequencies in accordance with the prioritized order that is indicated in the radio frequency scan list and selects a target radio frequency from the radio frequencies based on the scanning of the radio frequencies. The target radio frequency corresponds to a frequency band that is dynamically allocated from the shared radio spectrum to a radio access network associated with the user equipment. The user equipment then connects to the radio access network using the frequency band corresponding to the target radio frequency.
Abstract:
A method and device for zero configuration direct fallback communication is provided. In one aspect a method comprises selecting a channel in a fallback radio band based on at least a portion of at least one system operating parameter for a primary radio band. The method further comprises switching to the selected channel in the fallback radio band. The method also comprises communicating over the selected channel in the fallback radio band.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for dynamically allowing a guest device to a join a private citizens broadband radio systems (CBRS) network. The method includes determining one of a location of the guest device and a location of a public safety incident. The public safety incident is associated with the guest device. The method also includes determining that one of the location of the guest device and the location of the public safety incident is in a coverage area of the private CBRS network. The method further includes reconfiguring the private CBRS network to allow operation of the guest device on the private CBRS network, and operating the guest device on the private CBRS network.

Abstract:
An updated group alias, based on one or more of a location, function, and purpose of a group, is transmitted to a subscriber unit (SU) and displayed at the SU, in place of a previously provisioned group ID or group alias associated with the group, during communications with, or when the SU is tuned to, the group. An incident ID, associated with one or more groups and identifying an incident, is received and stored at a SU. The SU embeds the stored incident ID in all future communications with the one or more groups and, upon request, scans a set of groups and/or channels for communications having the incident ID embedded therein. An incident ID alias described one or more of a name, location, function, or purpose of the incident, may also be received and associated with the incident ID.
