    摘要: An optical waveguide includes a first core and a second core disposed adjacent to each other at spaced intervals and a dummy core positioned between the first core and the second core. The first core and the second core transmit light in a transmission direction perpendicular to an adjacent direction. The dummy core includes a facing surface facing the first core and an opposing surface positioned at the opposite side to the first core with respect to the facing surface, and the opposing surface has an inclined surface inclining so as to go away from the first core toward the downstream side in the transmission direction.

    摘要: An opto-electric hybrid board is capable of being mounted on a connector having a bottom wall. The opto-electric hybrid board sequentially includes an optical waveguide and an electric circuit board toward one side in a thickness direction of these. The optical waveguide includes an under clad layer, a core layer disposed on a one-side surface of the tinder clad layer, and an over clad layer disposed on the one-side surface of the under clad layer so as to cover the core layer. The under clad layer is in contact with an other-side surface in the thickness direction of the electric circuit board. The one-side surface in the thickness direction of the electric circuit board is capable of being placed on the bottom wall.

    摘要: A connector member for an optical waveguide includes a housing provided with a space portion for holding an end portion of an optical waveguide. In the housing, protruding portions serving as a positioner are provided on left-hand and right-hand side wall portions defining the space portion. Notches in the optical waveguide are fitted on the protruding portions, whereby a front end surface of the end portion of the optical waveguide is positioned at a location a predetermined distance inward from a front end surface of the housing. This configuration achieves optical coupling without bringing the end surface of the optical waveguide into direct abutment with an end surface of a target optical connector.

    摘要: An opto-electric hybrid board includes: an electric circuit board including electrical interconnect lines formed on the front surface of an insulation layer; a metal reinforcement layer formed partially on the back surface of the electric circuit board; an optical waveguide W configured to partially overlap the back surface of the electric circuit board E; and an second reinforcement layer formed on the back surface of the electric circuit board E. The second reinforcement layer allows the opto-electric hybrid board to have improved rigidity in a specific region and excellent handleability without incurring optical losses during optical coupling.

    摘要: There is provided an opto-electric hybrid module in which an optical element of an optical element unit and a core of an optical waveguide of an opto-electric hybrid unit are aligned with each other simply and precisely. This opto-electric hybrid module includes: a connector including an optical element; and an opto-electric hybrid unit including an electric circuit board and an optical waveguide which are stacked together. The connector includes aligning protrusions positioned and formed in a predetermined position with respect to the optical element. The opto-electric hybrid unit 2 includes recesses for fitting engagement with the aligning protrusion, the recesses being positioned and formed in a predetermined position with respect to an end surface of a core of the optical waveguide.

    摘要: An opto-electric hybrid board includes an electric circuit board in which electric wiring is formed on a front surface of an insulating layer, and an optical waveguide formed on the rear side of the electric circuit board. The optical waveguide and the electric circuit board are arranged so that left and right edges of the electric circuit board along a longitudinal direction of the optical waveguide overlap with left and right edges of the optical waveguide when viewed from above, or so that the left and right edges of the electric circuit board are on the inside of where the left and right edges of the optical waveguide are located. The opto-electric hybrid board is easy to handle owing to the reduced chance of the electric circuit board being damaged. The opto-electric hybrid board also does not cause misalignment of a core when used as a connector.

    摘要: An opto-electric hybrid module is provided, which is excellent in bending resistance and optical element mountability. In the opto-electric hybrid module, a light-path core of an optical waveguide is provided on a surface of an under-cladding layer, and non-light-path dummy cores are provided on opposite sides of the light-path core in spaced relation to the light-path core as projecting from the surface of the under-cladding layer. An electric circuit having mounting pads is provided on top surfaces of the dummy cores. An over-cladding layer is provided on side surfaces and a top surface of the light-path core, and projects to cover the core. The non-light-path dummy cores each have an elastic modulus that is set higher than the elastic modulus of the under-cladding layer and the elastic modulus of the over-cladding layer. The optical element is mounted on the mounting pads, and positioned above the projecting over-cladding layer.

In the opto-electric hybrid module, an electric circuit is provided directly on an over-cladding layer of the optical waveguide, and the optical element is provided on predetermined portions (mounting pads) of the electric circuit. The over-cladding layer has a projection which covers a core, and a center portion of the optical element is positioned above the projection with the intervention of a sealing resin.

    摘要: An optical waveguide member connector kit includes an optical waveguide member including an optical waveguide and a connector accommodating the optical waveguide member. The connector includes a main body having a bottom wall, and a first wall and a second wall that extend from the bottom wall toward one side in a thickness direction of the bottom wall and face each other at spaced intervals therebetween, and a lid disposed between the first wall and the second wall and sandwiching the optical waveguide member with the bottom wall when the optical waveguide member is accommodated in the connector. A ratio (L1/L2) of a length L1 in a facing direction of the lid to a facing length L2 between the first wall and the second wall is 0.80 or more and 0.99 or less.
