Abstract: There is provided a method for a user equipment for detecting a beam failure on at least one transmission/reception point, TRP, the UE being configured to communicate with a plurality of TRPs; based on the detecting, encoding a beam failure indication data to a beam failure recovery, BFR, media access control, MAC, control element, CE, wherein the beam failure indication data indicates the beam failure on the at least one TRP; and transmitting the BFR MAC CE to a network element of a wireless communication network.

Abstract: An apparatus for use by a communication network control element or function configured to conduct a communication control for a communication with at least one communication element or function in a communication network, the apparatus comprising at least one processing circuitry, and at least one memory for storing instructions to be executed by the processing circuitry, wherein the at least one memory and the instructions are configured to, with the at least one processing circuitry, cause the apparatus at least: to calculate a reception time window in a random access procedure for a communication element or function in at least one communication area controlled by the communication network control element or function, to provide setting information related to a random access procedure to a communication element or function in the at least one communication area, the setting information including an indication of the calculated reception time window and an indication related to a determination of a receiving pattern of the communication element or function in the reception time window, wherein the receiving pattern indicates communication resources being listened by the communication element or function during the reception time window for receiving a response to the random access related signaling, to receive and process a random access related signaling from the communication element or function, to determine, on the basis of a transmission frame in which the random access related signaling is sent by the communication element or function and the calculated reception time window, the receiving pattern of the communication element or function in the reception time window, to transmit, to the communication element or function, the response to the random access related signaling on the basis of the determined receiving pattern so that the response is received in a communication resource listened by the communication element or function.

Abstract: It is provided a method, comprising checking if a contention based random access is to be performed for a reason different from a beam failure recovery; monitoring if a received first reference signal has a received power above a set power threshold and/or a received quality above a set quality threshold; checking if a reception device is configured to receive a downlink control signal on a first beam corresponding to the first reference signal; instructing a transmission device to transmit a preamble of the contention based random access on the first beam if the contention based random access is to be performed for the reason, the received first reference signal has the received power above the set power threshold and/or the received quality above the set quality threshold, and the reception device is configured to receive the downlink control signal on the first beam.

Abstract: There are provided measures for enabling/realizing higher-layer beam management, e.g. beam failure detection or beam candidate detection in a higher layer such as a MAC entity. Such measures exemplarily comprise that a beam management timer is started when a (first) beam management instance indication from a lower layer is obtained, beam management is executed, wherein a beam management instance counter is incremented whenever a beam management instance indication from the lower layer is obtained and a beam management event is detected when the beam management instance counter reaches a beam management instance threshold before expiry of the beam management timer, and the beam management instance counter is reset upon expiry of the beam management timer.

Abstract: A method comprising receiving, from a network node, a temporary terminal device identity that identifies a type of a terminal device; transitioning to a radio resource control inactive state or to a radio resource control idle state; and transmitting a radio resource control request message comprising the temporary terminal device identity that identifies a type of a terminal device, wherein the radio resource control request message comprises: a radio resource control connection resume request message, if the transition was to the radio resource control inactive state; or a radio resource control setup request message if the transition was to the radio resource control idle state.

Abstract: Various communication systems may benefit from the appropriate handling of scheduling requests. For example, certain wireless communication systems may benefit from a scheduling request procedure involving multiple scheduling request configurations. A method can include transmitting, by a device, a first scheduling request at a first time. The method can also include setting, by the device, a timer from the first time prohibiting subsequent scheduling requests for a predetermined duration based on the transmission of the first scheduling request. The method can further include Identifying, by the device, a trigger for a new scheduling request subsequent to the first scheduling request. The method can additionally include modifying the timer based on the new scheduling request.
