Abstract: The invention relates to a method and technical equipment, wherein the method comprises obtaining a picture sequence; selecting a first spatial region and a second spatial region within a picture area of pictures of the picture sequence, the second spatial region differing from the first spatial region; obtaining a first spatial region sequence, the first spatial region sequence comprising the first spatial region of the pictures of the picture sequence; obtaining a second spatial region sequence, the second spatial region sequence comprising the second spatial region of the pictures of the picture sequence; transmitting the first spatial region sequence at a first picture rate; and transmitting the second spatial region sequence at a second picture rate, the first picture rate being different from the second picture rate.

Abstract: Apparatus embodiments of the invention are disclosed for requesting power via a wired interface. In example embodiments, a pull-down circuit in the apparatus acting as a power consumer when there is no energy in the apparatus, is connected via a configuration line over a cable to a power provider device. The apparatus may be in a power down mode, it may have an empty battery, or it may have no battery. The pull-down circuit is configured to use energy from the configuration line to pull down a voltage on the configuration line, to signal the power provider device to provide power over another line of the cable to the apparatus.

Abstract: Embodiments are disclosed for saving power in a gateway network comprising a plurality of nodes including a gateway device and one or more endpoint devices. In the context of a method, an example embodiment includes determining a mode of operation that results in optimal power utilization of at least one node, and determining whether a current mode of operation comprises the mode of operation that results in optimal power utilization of the node. In response to determining that the current mode of operation does not, the method further includes generating a mode switch message based on the mode of operation that results in optimal power utilization of the node, and causing transmission of the mode switch message to a first subset of the one or more endpoint devices. A corresponding apparatus and computer program product are also provided.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method comprising receiving stereoscopic visual data comprising at least one left view image and at least one right view image. An area of interest is determined at the stereoscopic visual data. A first region of the left view image corresponding to a first portion of the area of interest is determined and at least part of the first region is encoded at a first resolution. A second region of the right view image corresponding to a second portion of the area of interest is determined, and at least part of the second region is encoded at a second resolution. The invention also relates to a method for rendering.
