摘要: A system adapted to be disposed between a rigid or semi-rigid device and human skin for reliably attaching the device to the skin for an extended period of time. The system includes a skin-contacting surface for adhering to human skin, and an opposed surface for attachment to a rigid or semi-rigid device. The system is attached along its opposed surface to a portion of the total area of the adjacent surface of the device. When the device is subjected to external stress, the stress is transmitted through the area of attachment and distributed to the unattached area. This minimises stress on the skin and reduces the chance of detachment from the skin.

摘要: A surveillance camera system includes a camera that acquires images. A display screen is operably coupled with the camera wherein images captured by the camera are displayable on the display screen. A processing device is operably coupled to the camera and/or the display screen. The processing device outputs a nudity mask for display on the display screen such that the nudity mask obscures at least a portion of a person's skin that is included in the images captured by the camera.

摘要: Apparatus for establishing and maintaining a stable discharge across a stream of flowing gas, particularly useful for high-power lasers, comprises working electrodes disposed on opposite sides of the gas flow channel, and starting electrodes adjacent to the upstream working electrodes. Each working electrode includes a ballast impedance and is connected between a high-voltage source and a point of fixed reference potential. Each starting electrode includes a substantially larger ballast impedance and is connected to the point of fixed reference potential such that each starting electrode is effective to bring the point of fixed reference potential to the upstream working electrode to start the discharge, and to draw little current after the discharge has been started.

摘要: An embodiment of a method of stimulating an earth formation includes: disposing a stimulation device at a borehole in an earth formation, the earth formation having been stimulated by an initial stimulation operation; subsequent to the stimulation operation, performing a probe operation configured to cause movement of existing fractures in the formation; and measuring microseismic events occurring in the formation by one or more seismic receivers. The method further includes: identifying one or more target zones in the formation based on the measuring, the one or more target zones exhibiting a reduced micro seismicity relative to another zone in the formation; and designing a re-stimulation operation configured to stimulate the one or more target zones to increase hydrocarbon production from the formation.

摘要: A method for analyzing characteristics of a geological formation includes obtaining at a processor data representative of at least one of stratigraphic, structural, or physical characteristics of the geological formation, applying at the processor a wavelet transform to at least a portion of the obtained data or data interpreted or derived from the obtained data to derive one or more wavelet transform coefficients representative of the obtained data, segmenting at the processor at least one or more of the obtained data or data interpreted or derived from the obtained data into segments, determining at the processor a measure of variability of the obtained data or the data interpreted or derived from the obtained data over each segment at one or more scales of the wavelet transform.
