Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a communication method and system for converging a 5th-Generation (5G) communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4th-Generation (4G) system with a technology for Internet of Things (IoT). There is disclosed a method, for a first network entity, for informing a change in coverage enhancement usage in a network comprising the first network entity and a user equipment (UE). The method comprises, in response to determining that a restriction on the use of coverage enhancement has changed for the UE, transmitting, to the UE, a first message including an indication of the change.

Abstract: A method and system in the User Equipment (UE) for maintaining rejected network slice selection assistance information (NSSAI) for Single Network Slice Selection Assistance Information (S-NSSAI) not available due to maximum number of UEs reached per access type. The method comprises receiving a Non-Access Stratum (NAS) message including at least one of a registration accept, registration reject or CONFIGURATION UPDATE COMMAND message along with at least one of rejected Single Network Slice Selection Assistance Information (S-NSSAI(s)) information and a cause for the S-NSSAI not available due to maximum number of UEs reached from a network. Thereafter, the method includes determining by the UE an access type on which the rejected S-NSSAI(s) is applicable based on the received S-NSSAI(s) information and then maintaining a storage of the rejected NSSAI for the S-NSSAI not available due to the maximum number of the UEs reached per access type based on the determination.

The method comprises: identifying that the UE in idle mode, has an emergency protocol data unit (PDU) session, transmitting, to the AMF, a control plane service request (CPSR) message comprising data of a first type, receiving, from the AMF, a security mode command message indicating that an integrity check related to the CPSR message has failed, in response to receiving the security mode command message, identifying whether the CPSR message comprises the data of the first type including data of a second type, or the CPSR message comprises the data of the first type excluding the data of the second type, and transmitting the CPSR message excluding the data of the first type except the data of the second type.

Disclosed is a method of operating a user equipment (UE) operable to communicate with a telecommunication network, comprising the steps of: the UE sending to the telecommunication network a control plane service request (CPSR) message with cellular Internet of Things (CIoT) user data, associated with a protocol data unit (PDU) session; the UE receiving from the telecommunication network a SERVICE ACCEPT message, indicating that the PDU session is inactive in the network; and the UE verifying if the PDU session has an identity the same as an identity of the PDU session included in the CPSR message with CIoT user data and, if so then the UE determines that the CIoT user data was not successfully sent to the telecommunication network or to a final recipient.
