Abstract:
The present invention provides improved surgical devices for ab-externo sub-retinal fluid drainage and methods for using the same. The surgical devices are illuminated, allow for a reinforced mark to be placed on the sclera, feature a deployable needle, and enable direct visualization of retinal pathology via transillumination of the sclera. The surgical devices allow more precise localization of the site of retinal tears and subretinal fluid drainage.
Abstract:
A robotic surgery system includes: (1) a positioning stage and (2) at least one manipulator arm mounted to the positioning stage, wherein the manipulator arm includes a track and a tool carriage moveably mounted to the track, and the tool carriage includes a base and a pair of light emitting devices mounted to the base.
Abstract:
An intraocular implant device includes: (1) a lens portion; and (2) a peripheral portion surrounding the lens portion, wherein the peripheral portion includes multiple fiducials including a first fiducial, a second fiducial, and a third fiducial, the first fiducial, the second fiducial, and the third fiducial are positioned in the peripheral portion so that the third fiducial is displaced from a line segment connecting the first fiducial and the second fiducial.
Abstract:
A docking system for intraocular surgery that is configured to simultaneously: (1) physically stabilize a position and an orientation of an eye during intraocular surgical procedures; (2) preserve an unobstructed path for optical instruments; (3) provide access to the eye that allows for tool movement; (4) maintain eyeball hydration and improve the scan quality of an imaging system, such as an OCT system or a surgical microscope and may maintain or control an intraocular pressure of the eye to a stable, desired level during surgical procedures.

Abstract:
Systems and methods are disclosed for obtaining rheological properties of viscoelastic medium, and in particular, in-vivo evaluation of body fluid such as the vitreous. The system includes a needle-like probe having a distal and a proximal end, a rotational actuator, and a sensor coupled to the rotational actuator. The proximal end of the probe is configured for attachment to the rotational actuator. The distal proximal end of the probe has a roughened outer circumferential surface extending axially along at least a portion of the distal end, wherein the roughed distal end of the probe is configured to be disposed within the viscoelastic medium, and wherein the sensor is configured to obtain measurements corresponding rotation of the probe within the viscoelastic medium.
