摘要: An image display apparatus comprising: a driver apparatus; and a total of N device groups of a first group to an N-th group (2≦N) each of which includes one or a plurality of light emitting devices, the image display apparatus uses the driver apparatus to make each of the device groups emit light preventing light emission capable periods from overlapping one another and displays an image by using the obtained light as backlight; wherein the driver apparatus includes: a power output circuit that outputs light emission power used for the light emission of the light emitting device; and a switch mechanism that switches, in accordance with arrival of the light emission capable period of a device group K (1≦K≦N), an output destination of the light emission power output from the power output circuit to the device group K.

摘要: An image display device of the present invention includes a subframe generation section (10) for dividing one frame of a video signal into a first subframe during which at least a green (G) light source emits light, a second subframe during which at least a red (R) light source emits light, and a third subframe during which a blue (B) light source emits light. The subframe generation section (10) finds a difference between (i) a signal to be displayed, which signal is obtained from an aperture ratio corrected in the first subframe and luminance distribution of a light source corresponding to a red (R) video signal included in the first subframe and (ii) the red (R) video signal included in the first subframe, and corrects, according to the difference found in the first subframe, an aperture ratio corrected in the second subframe. This prevents insufficiency of luminance, and thus makes it possible to carry out an accurate color display.

摘要: It is expected to provide an image display apparatus and image display method that can reduce the risk that an image quality is undermined due to a halo phenomenon caused by the leak of light passing through a non-corresponding color filter from a LED. The image display apparatus can respectively control luminous efficiencies of plural color LEDs, i.e., R-LED (11a), G-LED (11b) and B-LED (11c) that emit light through a color filter to a displaying unit. The image display apparatus obtains luminous efficiencies for a frame of RGB image signal (S2), calculates a light leak amount and then detects whether the halo phenomenon may occur or not (S3-S5). When the halo phenomenon is considered to occur, the luminous efficiencies of LEDs (11a, 11b, 11c) included in the liquid crystal display apparatus are controlled to make the light from the LEDs (11a, 11b, 11c) become close to white light (S8).

摘要: The occurrence of the halo phenomenon caused in a display panel unit is detected in a liquid crystal display device that displays an image in the display panel unit including color filters of a plurality of colors by respectively controlling emission ratios of a plurality of LEDs emitting lights of colors respectively corresponding to the plurality of color filters. Upon detection, a part of the display panel unit, for example, the channel number and the vicinity thereof are set as a non-detection area in which the detection of the halo phenomenon is restricted and the remaining area is set as a detection area. The chroma of light, which corresponds to mixed light from the plurality of LEDs, is reduced by controlling the emission ratios of the LEDs on the basis of the detection result in the detection area, so that the color of light is closer to white.

摘要: A liquid crystal display device (101) including a liquid crystal panel (4) and an LED backlight (5) which is provided with a plurality of LEDs (5R, 5G, and 5B) that emit light of different colors from a backside of the liquid crystal panel (4), the liquid crystal display device (1), in accordance with a video signal supplied thereto, (i) displaying a color image by controlling an aperture ratio of the liquid crystal panel (4) and luminances of the respective plurality of LEDs (5R, 5G, and 5B), and (ii) controlling the luminances of the respective plurality of LEDs (5R, 5G, and 5B) by pulse width modulation, the liquid crystal display device (101) includes: period dividing means (15) for dividing a frame of a video signal into a plurality of periods; and a pulse width modulating section (20) which generates a pulse signal for causing each of the plurality of LEDs (5R, 5G, and 5B) to emit light so that for each of the plurality of periods into which the period dividing means (15) has divided the frame, the plurality of LEDs (5R, 5G, and 5B) emit light while overlapping with each other. According to this, a deterioration in display quality is prevented by reducing a variation between a luminance ratio set in accordance with each frame and a luminance ratio of light transmitted through a liquid crystal panel.

摘要: When conducting video display with a wide color gamut display based on a video signal conforming to a standard (sRGB standard and the like) having a color reproduction range narrower than that of the wide color gamut display, the video processing circuit 2 corrects a color in a prescribed correction target color range partly including a red hue reference range as a center part in the color range of an equal hue from achromatic colors having the lowest saturation to red having the highest saturation in an expanded color reproduction range but not including red having the highest saturation in the expanded color reproduction range, so that the hue may change to a hue akin to yellow in the expanded color reproduction range. In so doing, the hue in the red hue reference range changes to red hue in the color reproduction range conforming to the sRBG standard. Furthermore, the hue change ratio into the hue akin to yellow becomes smaller in a color having a long distance from the red hue reference range in the expanded color reproduction range than a color having a distance close thereto. As a result, the wide color gamut display displayable of bright red having a high saturation can be fully utilized, while at the same time solving the problem of hue displacement in displaying red having an intermediate saturation.
