    摘要: A refrigerator includes a secondary cooling path for circulating liquid coolant through the refrigerator wherein the liquid coolant is cooled by the freezer compartment and wherein the liquid coolant cools the ice maker and the ice bin as the liquid coolant circulates through the secondary cooling path. A pump is positioned along the secondary cooling path for pumping the liquid coolant through the secondary cooling path. A tube having a first end proximate the pump and an opposite end exposed to atmosphere may control suction pressure associated with the pump. The refrigerator reduces frost build up through configuration of the secondary cooling path or performing ice harvesting operations which melt frost. The secondary cooling path may be used to provide for circulating hot liquid. The secondary cooling path may be used to provide for circulating liquid coolant during a power outage.

    摘要: A distributed refrigeration appliance system for use in a residential kitchen and other locations in a dwelling and includes multiple separate refrigeration appliance modules, a central cooling system and a cooling circuit. The system can also include one or more satellite stations having a heat exchanger and arranged for supplying chilled air to one or more refrigeration appliance modules. One or more refrigeration appliance modules can include a thermal cascade cooling device to cool the module to lower temperatures than the cooling circuit can attain. One or more refrigeration appliance modules can be refrigeration/storage modules that can provide refrigerated, unconditioned or heated storage space. The central cooling system can be a vapor compression system having a refrigerant circuit connecting the modules. Alternately, the central cooling system can cool a secondary cooling medium circuit. The refrigeration system can also have more than one refrigeration machine providing cooling to the secondary refrigeration loop.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for operating a refrigeration appliance having a plurality of compartments in direct communication with a single evaporator wherein the evaporator operates at a plurality of different evaporating pressures for controlling temperature and humidity within each of the plurality of compartments. By controlling the temperature of the evaporator used for cooling a compartment, relative control of humidity within each compartment selected for operation at a temperature greater than substantially below freezing may be obtained. In this fashion, high humidity compartments operating at a freezing temperature may be provided as well as high humidity compartments operating at somewhat above freezing. Furthermore, all compartments, regardless of their selected temperature, may be operated at a relatively low humidity if desired. Additionally, subordinate compartments, not in direct communication with the evaporator, may be provided wherein the subordinate compartments are cooled indirectly by controllable communication between the subordinate compartment and an adjacent compartment. The present invention further provides for having an isolated controlled temperature compartment wherein the controlled temperature compartment is cooled by transfer of heat from the controlled temperature compartment into an adjacent flask containing a phase change material. The flask is independently in communication with the evaporator, such that the phase change material may remain at its transition temperature.

    摘要: A vacuum filling machine and method are provided for use in filling a porous pouch with microporous powder. The machine has a housing sealable in an air tight manner. A pair of substantially parallel plates are positioned within said housing, one of the plates having a plurality of perforations therethrough extending from facing front sides of that plate to back side of that plate. The housing is openable to receive the porous pouch between the facing front sides of the plates. A nozzle provides a communication path between the pouch and a source of microporous powder. A vacuum source communicates with an interior of the housing and the back side of the plate with perforations through a vacuum shroud. Preferably, a heat sealing device is positioned within the housing for sealing an edge of the pouch after filling with microporous powder.
