Abstract:
A tire and wheel rim assembly wherein the wheel rim includes adjacent to at least one bead seat a circumferentially extending groove and the tire bead has a radially and axially projecting extended toe portion which is axially and radially located within said groove. The toe is flexible in a direction substantially perpendicular to its length and substantially rigid in the direction of its length and provides an effective bead lock to retain the tire bead in position on the rim.
Abstract:
An air/fuel control apparatus mounted on a racing automobile engine delivers fuel to the engine. A valve therein controls the flow of fuel to the engine, irrespective of the position of the accelerator foot pedal, and the valve is connected to a throttle linkage linking the pedal to the valve. The valve includes a double acting pneumatic cylinder means with a slidable piston therein. A movable shaft extends through both ends of a cylindrical housing, and moves with the piston. One first end of the shaft is coupled to the valve so that slidable movement of the piston opens and closes the valve to increase and decrease, respectively, flow of fuel to the carburetor of the engine. A cable rod connects the housing to the pedal so that movement of the pedal causes the housing to move with respect to the piston therein. A solenoid valve delivers gas under pressure selectively to one side of the piston to either increase or decrease fuel flow to the engine while at also controlling the rate of gas exhaustion from the opposite side of the piston to control the rate of movement of the piston, thereby to control the acceleration or deceleration of the engine. A second end of the shaft extends out from the opposite end of the housing and has an adjustable limiting member to limit of movement of the shaft in one direction by the limiting member contacting the housing.
Abstract:
Tire deflation warning apparatus comprising a tubular housing having a sliding piston, a port in the housing for connection to the inflation chamber of the tire whereby the pressure of air in the tire at normal operating pressure can urge the piston to move relatively to the housing, biasing means associated with the piston in opposition to the air, and magnetic means operated by movement of the piston to actuate a warning switch.
Abstract:
A method for communicating with and controlling design logic modules (“cores”) external to a system-on-chip (SOC) design during verification of the design uses verification software to generate and apply test cases to stimulate components of an SOC design in simulation; the results are observed and used to de-bug the design. Typically, SOC designs interface with cores that are external to the design. Existing methods of including such external cores in a verification test of a SOC design typically entail having to create special test cases to control the external cores; such test cases typically do not communicate with test cases being applied internally to the SOC and therefore lack realism. An external memory-mapped test device (EMMTD) according to the present invention is coupled between a SOC design being tested in simulation, and cores external to the SOC design. Internal EMMTD logic provides for control and status monitoring of an external core coupled to an EMMTD bi-directional bus by enabling functions including driving data on the bus, reading the current state of data on the bus, and capturing positive and negative edge transitions on the bus. In one embodiment, a test case being executed by a simulator embedded processor in the SOC can communicate with and control elements external to the SOC, by using the EMMTD to perform such functions as initiating external core logic which drives test signals to an internal core, directly controlling an internal core via its external interface, or determining the status of an external core.
Abstract:
A portable spring tester adapted for use in testing spring strength for spring assemblies mounted on automobiles and the like. The tester includes a mounting arm for coupling and removably locating the tester in fixed position on the spring assembly. An actuating arm extends from the mounting arm in position to engage with the spring assembly and be shiftable to bias the spring. Engagement surfaces are on the tester for removably mounting a strength indicator thereon so that when the actuating arm is shifted to bias the spring the strength indicator will provide a reading to indicate the spring strength.
Abstract:
A wire wheel is provided in which some of the array of spokes extending between the hub and the rim penetrate the latter in the outboard bead seat. This bead seat is of smaller diameter than the inboard bead seat but is covered by a ribbon of a plastics material the outer diameter of which corresponds to the bead seat. The plastics ribbon is trapped in the channel of the outboard bead seat and seals the spoke holes penetrating the outboard bead seat. Nevertheless a metal step is exposed above the plastics ribbon for abutment by the toe of the outboard tire bead (not shown).
