Abstract:
A bicycle rim has rim a pair of rim flanges that defines a tire channel. A rim strip extends across the tire channel. The rim strip includes a pair of flange bumpers configured to cover the rim flanges. The flange bumpers each define a flange channel in which one of the rim flanges is received. A pair of safety humps define corresponding tire seating sections where a tire is seated when inflated. The rim strip further includes a drop seal that seals with the beads of the tire to facilitate seating of the tire during inflation.
Abstract:
A thermoplastic wheel hub (10) includes a center hub (26) for attachment to a wheel bearing (20) of a vehicle. The center hub (26) has a central shaft aperture (28) extending axially therethough and a plurality of lug apertures (30) spaced radially from and circumferentially about the central shaft aperture (28). The thermoplastic wheel hub (10) also includes a plurality of ribs (40) extending radially outwardly from the center hub (26). The thermoplastic wheel hub (10) further includes a cylindrical tire mount (46) connected to the ribs and extending axially in substantially a plane for mounting a non-pneumatic tire (12) thereon.
Abstract:
A transient heating burner including at least two burner elements each including a distribution nozzle configured to flow a first fluid and an annular nozzle surrounding the distribution nozzle and configured to flow a second fluid, the burner also including a controller programmed to independently control the flow of the first fluid to each distribution nozzle such that at least one of the distribution nozzles is active and at least one of the distribution nozzles is passive, wherein flow in an active distribution nozzle is greater than an average flow to the distribution nozzles and flow in a passive distribution nozzle is less than the average flow to the distribution nozzles, wherein the first fluid contains a reactant that is one of fuel and oxidant and the second fluid contains a reactant that is the other of fuel and oxidant.
Abstract:
In this invention ballistic resistant materials are integrated into a wheel for protection of the Tire Bead Bundle, protection of hardware, and protection of hub components. The Tire Bead Bundle can be protected by supplementing the existing rim flange with ballistic resistant material and/or by placing such material between the flange and the bead bundle. Further, for protection of hardware (including Manual Inflation or CTI Valves), ballistic resistant material can be incorporated over or on wheel hardware. Finally, ballistic resistant materials can be incorporated over or on the wheel hub diameter to reduce the risk of damage due to ballistic attacks.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a wheel, especially a light metal wheel for motor vehicles, essentially comprising a wheel spider (20) and a wheel rim (10). Said wheel rim (10) is provided with an inner rim base (16) and an outer rim base (14) which respectively merge into an inner rim horn (18) and an outer rim horn (12). At least some sections of the outer rim base (14) are made of plastic, said plastic (30) being directly molded onto the wheel (1).
Abstract:
A transient heating burner including at least two burner elements each having a distribution nozzle configured to flow a fuel, and an annular nozzle surrounding the distribution nozzle and configured to flow an first oxidant, at least one staging nozzle configured to flow a second oxidant, and a controller programmed to independently control the fuel flow to each distribution nozzle such that at least one of the distribution nozzles is active and at least one of the distribution nozzles is passive, wherein an active distribution nozzle fuel flow is greater than an average fuel flow to the distribution nozzles and a passive nozzle fuel flow is less than the average fuel flow, and to control a staging ratio to be less than or equal to about 75%.
Abstract:
Disclosed are various exemplary embodiments of a multi-piece rim assembly for mounting a tire. The rim assembly may include a rim base having a first end and a second end, a flange detachably mountable to the first end of the rim base, and a flange assembly detachably mountable to the second end of the rim base. The flange and the rim base may cooperatively define a first bead seat for receiving a first bead of the tire, and the flange assembly may define a second bead seat for receiving a second bead of the tire. The flange assembly may be formed of a unitary construction that includes a bead seat section having an outer surface for contacting a bottom edge of the second bead of the tire and a flange section extending substantially radially outwardly from the bead seat section to contact a side wall of the second bead of the tire. The rim assembly may also include a lock ring configured to secure the flange assembly to the rim base.
Abstract:
A tire apparatus for driving a vehicle is provided. The tire apparatus allows the vehicle to be driven during periods of both low tire pressure and normal tire pressure. The tire apparatus has a tire that has a tread section. The tire has a pair of side walls that are located adjacent to the tread section. A first bead is located at an end of one of the side walls, and a second bead is located at an end of the other side wall. A wheel is also present that has a rim with a first bead seat and a second bead seat. The wheel is configured for attachment to the vehicle. The wheel has a support member for engaging the tire during periods of low tire pressure. At least one of the first and second bead seats has a plurality of friction members to prevent relative rotational movement between the tire and the rim.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a tire rim for wheels of cycles in general adapted to allow an easy and firm assembling of the tire, and has the main feature that the rim comprises a body the cross-section of which defines a well for the tire, laterally delimited by ridges adjoining recesses for the tire bead, which recesses are delimited on their outside by a hook portion or rim flange having a top inwardly curved crook portion.
Abstract:
A wire wheel is provided in which some of the array of spokes extending between the hub and the rim penetrate the latter in the outboard bead seat. This bead seat is of smaller diameter than the inboard bead seat but is covered by a ribbon of a plastics material the outer diameter of which corresponds to the bead seat. The plastics ribbon is trapped in the channel of the outboard bead seat and seals the spoke holes penetrating the outboard bead seat. Nevertheless a metal step is exposed above the plastics ribbon for abutment by the toe of the outboard tire bead (not shown).
