    Abstract: The apparatus comprises a labyrinth mixing device designed to mix a first oxidizer gas and a fuel under pressure, and to inject the mixture produced in a combustion chamber, a torch's main body (1) housing the labyrinth mixing device (2) and connectors (7) for fuel and oxidizer gases, a torch's front part (3) defining, with the labyrinth mixing device (2), the internal geometry of the combustion chamber (4) comprising several second oxidizer gas injectors (32,33) for injecting separately a second oxidizer gas upstream in the combustion chamber to promote the combustion process and connecting down-stream to a gas expanding nozzle (50) designed to receive products of combustion of said mixture and form a high-velocity gaseous jet, an ignition device (30) to start combustion of said mixture, a material delivery device (6) designed to inject an spray material axially into said high-velocity gaseous jet. The labyrinth mixing device (2) comprises one or more flanges (23,24) which define one or more mixing volumes (21,22) and holes (25,26,27), concentrically placed both on the flanges (23,24) and passing through the mixing device (2) and opening at the downstream end of the mixing device (2) for connecting a feeding section (20) of the labyrinth mixing device (2) with the combustion chamber (4). The labyrinth mixing device (2) comprises a crossing axial bore (28) to inject the spray material into the combustion chamber (4).

    Abstract: The method for flame spraying thermoplastic powders provides to heat the article to be coated at a suitable working temperature and to feed the said thermoplastic powders, transported by an inert gas, a flow of compressed air and a flow of liquefied petroleum gas through respective separated discharge chambers (7, 9, 12), shaped inside a mixing device (1) of a spray gun. The thermoplastic powders are then projected, in a resulting flow (30), on the heated surface of the article to be coated, to determine the melting of the same powders at their contact with said heated surface. At least one couple of flows (31, 32) of compressed air is sprayed converging towards the resulting flow (30) flowing out of the mixing device (1), giving the resulting flow (30) a substantially flattened fan shape.

    Abstract: An apparatus for forming an amorphous coating film by jetting flame containing particles of a flame spray material from a flame spray gun toward a base material, causing the particles to be melted by the flame, and cooling both the particles and the flame with the means of a cooling gas before they reach the base material. The apparatus includes a tubular member provided among the path along which the flame is jetted that it surrounds the flame passing through a melting zone in which the particles are melted. The tubular member has a flow channel for the cooling gas, formed along and integrally to the tubular member.

The device includes a nozzle for ejecting a primary stream of combustible substance to a gaseous atmosphere in an ejection direction; an ignition unit configured to ignite the primary stream in a point of ignition; and an impermeable shield providing a planar surface that is substantially opposite to the ejection direction and has in front of the nozzle a hole that allows passage of the primary stream.     Abstract: A nozzle for a thermal spray gun and a method of thermal spraying are disclosed. The nozzle has a combustion chamber within which fuel is burned to produce a stream of combustion gases. The streams of heated gases exit through a pair of linear exhausts which are located on either side of an aerospike. The streams converge outside the nozzle and powdered coating material is introduced into the converging streams immediately downstream of the aerospike. The coating material is heated and accelerated before impacting on a substrate to be coated.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a method and an apparatus for forming, by spraying, a commonly known amorphous coating film, which is not limited to a metallic glass or the like. According to this invention, a flame containing metal particles is ejected toward a base material from a nozzle, such that the material particles are melted with the flame. Thereafter, the melted material particles and flame are cooled before they reach the base material. For this cooling process, a gas is externally ejected toward the flame, such that the gas can gradually approach the central line of the flame. Preferably, the particle size of the material particles in the flame is within a range of 10 to 100 μm.
