    Abstract: A combustion staging system includes a splitting unit which receives a metered fuel flow and controllably splits the received fuel flow into pilot and mains flows. Pilot and mains fuel manifolds distribute fuel from the splitting unit to the pilot and mains stages. The splitting unit selects and deselects pilot-only operation. Both pilot and mains manifolds are selectable for pilot and mains operation. A cooling flow recirculation line has a delivery section arranged to provide a cooling flow of fuel to the mains manifold when it is deselected during pilot-only operation. Cooling flow enters the delivery section from a high pressure fuel zone of the engine and exits the return section to a low pressure fuel zone of the engine. A controller adjusts the splitting unit during pilot-only operation to partially select the mains manifold thereby increasing the pressure in the mains manifold to meet a target fuel pressure therein.

    Abstract: The present combustor of gas turbine engine includes: a fuel injection unit including a fuel spray part to spray a fuel so that a diffusion combustion region is formed in a combustion chamber, and a pre-mixture supply part to supply a pre-mixture of a fuel and an air so that a pre-mixture combustion region is formed in the combustion chamber; and a fuel supply unit to supply the fuel to the fuel spray part and pre-mixture supply part. The fuel supply unit includes: a pilot fuel passage and a main fuel passage to supply the fuel to the fuel spray part and the pre-mixture supply part, respectively; an assembled fuel passage to supply the fuel to the pilot and main fuel passages; and a fuel distributor disposed at a branch point where the assembled fuel passage is connected to both the pilot and main fuel passages.     Abstract: A flow balancing valve for a multistage combustor includes a first pressure feedback line, a first burn line, and a first metering port fluidly connected to the first fuel injector. The flow balancing valve further includes a second pressure feedback line, a second burn line, and a second metering port fluidly connected to the second fuel injector. A metering land is located between and defines sizes of the first metering port and the second metering port. An increase in pressure differential between the first pressure feedback line and the second pressure feedback line causes a compensatory movement in the metering land to balance fuel flow for the first fuel injector and the second fuel injector.
