    Abstract: A plasma display panel has a first substrate, plural pairs of display electrodes, a second substrate, and plural data electrodes. Each pair of the display electrodes is made up of a scanning electrode and a sustain electrode which are arranged parallel to each other on the first substrate. The second substrate is disposed opposite to the first substrate. A discharge space is formed between the first substrate and second substrate. The data electrodes are arranged in a direction perpendicular to the display electrodes on the second substrate. The data electrode is wider in peripheral portion of the second substrate than in a central portion of the second substrate.

    Abstract: A plasma display panel includes a front substrate and a rear substrate faced to each other to form a discharge space therebetween. The front substrate includes a plurality of display electrodes, each made of a scan electrode and a sustain electrode. The rear substrate includes a plurality of data electrodes intersected with the display electrodes. Discharges cells are formed at the intersections of the display electrodes and the data electrodes. The data electrodes have a plurality of main electrode parts in portions faced to the display electrodes, and wiring parts connecting the main electrode parts together and narrower than the main electrode parts. Further, each main electrode part is disposed so that ends thereof in the longitudinal direction of the data electrode substantially correspond to the furthest separated long sides of the scan electrode and the sustain electrode in the discharge cell.

    Abstract: A surface-discharge type PDP includes plural electrode pairs formed of first and second sustain electrodes arranged on a first substrate. Each pair extends along a line direction, and the first and second sustain electrodes are in parallel and adjacent to each other. Plural address electrodes arranged on a second substrate opposing the first substrate via a discharge space, each extending along a row direction, a matrix corresponding to a screen to be displayed is formed with the main electrodes and address electrodes, the address electrodes are orthogonal to the main electrodes, each of the address electrode is divided into, for example two partial address electrodes separated from each other by a border line located between adjacent main electrode pairs, whereby the screen is divided into two partial screens, wherein a first clearance between the partial address electrodes is substantially larger than a second clearance between main electrode pair adjacent across the border line. The arrangement order of the first and second sustain electrodes may preferably be such that first sustain electrodes of the first and second partial screens face each other via the border line, and the partial address electrodes may not cross over the first sustain electrodes nearest to the border line.

    Abstract: A plasma display panel includes a first substrate and a second substrate, the first substrate and the second substrate being provided with a predetermined gap therebetween. Barrier ribs are formed in a non-striped pattern between the first substrate and the second substrate, the barrier ribs defining a plurality of discharge spaces. A plurality of address electrodes are formed on the first substrate along a direction (y), the address electrodes being formed within and outside discharge spaces. A plurality of sustain electrodes are formed on the second substrate along a direction (x), the sustain electrodes being formed within and outside discharge spaces. The address electrodes include large electrode portions provided within discharge spaces and small electrode portions provided outside the discharge spaces. If a width of large electrode portions is AW, a width of small electrode portions is Aw, and a distance between barrier ribs along direction (x) is D, AW is larger than Aw, and AW is 40-75% of D.

    Abstract: A plasma display panel includes a pair of opposing substrates, a plurality of display electrodes which form display lines on a screen, and a plurality of address electrodes which intersect with the display electrodes. Each of the display electrodes has a bus electrode extending in a row direction, and a plurality of branch electrodes each protruding from the bus electrode to another adjacent display electrode. Each of the branch electrodes has a head portion disposed in parallel with the bus electrode to form a discharge gap and a neck portion connecting the bus electrode and the head portion to each other. At least one of the neck portion and the address electrode is disposed so as to diagonally cross each cell so that an overlapped area between the neck portion and the address electrode is always formed as a certain area, whereby the neck portion and the address electrode are disposed so as to diagonally intersect with each other in a plane view of the panel.
