Abstract:
A microwave energy tool including a sheet beam klystron that includes a tube body for carrying an electron sheet beam that has a plurality of cavities and a magnetic solenoid wound directly on the tube body.
Abstract:
A permanent magnet focusing system includes an electron gun that provides an electron ribbon beam having an elliptical shape. A plurality of permanent magnets provide transport for the electron ribbon beam. The permanent magnets produce a non-axisymmetric periodic permanent magnet (PPM) focusing field to allow the electron ribbon beam to be transported in the permanent magnet focusing system.
Abstract:
Axially symmetric magnetic fields are provided about the longitudinal axis of each beam of a multi-beam electron beam device. The magnetic field symmetry is independent of beam voltage, beam current and applied magnetic field strength. A flux equalizer assembly is disposed between the cathodes and the anodes and near the cathodes of a multi-beam electron beam device. The assembly includes a ferromagnetic flux plate completely contained within the magnetic focusing circuit of the device. The flux plate includes apertures for each beam of the multi-beam device. A flux equalization gap or gaps are disposed in the flux plate to provide a perturbation in the magnetic field in the flux plate which counters the asymmetry induced by the off-axis position of the beam. The gaps may be implemented in a number of ways all of which have the effect of producing a locally continuously varying reluctance that locally counters the magnetic field asymmetry. The flux equalizer assembly prevents or substantially reduces beam twist and maintains all of the electron beams of the device as linear beams.
Abstract:
A magnetron, and a microwave oven and a high frequency heating apparatus each equipped with the same use, a single permanent magnet disposed above or below an anode, a pole piece near the permanent magnet that has a magnetic flux dispersing structure, and another pole piece opposite to the permanent magnet that has a magnetic flux concentrating structure. In accordance with the present invention, even though a single permanent magnet is provided, magnetic flux density is rendered uniform across an activating space, so that the volume and parts of the magnetron are reduced and the curtailment of manufacturing costs is realized.
Abstract:
A variable tapered magic cylinder structure that is constructed from two or more permanent magnet shells, with the first shell being oriented and magnetized to produce a first working magnetic field with a given taper, and a second shell oriented and magnetized to produce a second magnetic field with a given taper that interacts with the first magnetic field. The two magnetic shells are assembled in a way to rotate about a common shared internal cavity and concentric cylindrical axis to form a working space, with the first and second working fields interacting with each other to form a tapered working magnetic field along a polar plane perpendicular to the concentric axis with a given pitch. This structure allows one to adjust or vary the tapered magnetic field along the polar plane to advantageously provide an adjustable composite tapered magnetic field. Also provided are a variable tapered magic cylinder device, a method for adjusting a tapered magnetic field and a method of adjusting a tapered magnetic field in a magic ring structure.
Abstract:
In a gyrotron comprising a cathode with an emitter ring, an accelerating anode, a resonator, a collector, and an uncoupling conduit, an arrangement is disposed around the resonator which generates a solenoidal static axial magnetic constant field which, in the area of the resonator, assumes a predetermined wave form causing the electrons emitted from the cathode to move along a spiral path and which has varying localized strengths such that the electrons passing therethrough along the spiral path have, upon exiting the resonator area, only an insignificant transverse velocity component left, whereupon they are attracted by the collector which is precharged.
Abstract:
A gyrotron providing first and second microwave frequencies comprises a dual frequency cavity coupled between an electron gun and a waveguide. The electron gun, the dual frequency cavity and a segment of the waveguide are surrounded by a variable magnetic source having first and second operating states. The first state provides microwaves at the first frequency, while the second state produces microwaves at the second frequency.
Abstract:
A trajectory correcting device for electron tubes comprises an auxiliary trajectory correcting means capable of creating a magnetic field that corrects the effects of azimuthal drift of the beam between a first disk and a second disk. This drift is due to the non-uniformity of the main field between the two disks. This means may include several coils, through which currents flow, placed in the vicinity of the disks or between them. The device can be applied to multibeam klystrons.
Abstract:
This invention discloses an improved undulator comprising a plurality of electromagnet poles located along opposite sides of a particle beam axis with alternate north and south poles on each side of the beam to cause the beam to wiggle or undulate as it travels generally along the beam axis and permanent magnets spaced adjacent the electromagnetic poles on each side of the axis of said particle beam in an orientation sufficient to reduce the saturation of the electromagnet poles whereby the field strength of the electromagnet poles can be increased beyond the normal saturation levels of the electromagnetic poles.
Abstract:
A delay line is provided for a travelling wave tube and comprising two parts:a first part formed from a delay line section comprising a central conductor mounted in a cylindrical sleeve by means of dielectric rods. This first part is situated on the high frequency input side of the tube and is focussed by means of a succession of permanent magnets with alternate orientations;a second part, following the first one which is formed from an entirely metal delay line section and which is focussed by means of a solenoid or a permanent magnet.
