    摘要: According to one embodiment, a klystron includes a plurality of cavity resonators arranged next to each other on a coaxial line. The cavity resonators each comprise a cylindrical body, one and another drift tubes provided on respective sides of respective ends of the cylindrical body, one and another support and a space adjustment means which adjusts the space between the one and the other drift tubes. The cylindrical body comprises a projection projecting from one end surface parallel to the axial line, and the one support is provided to abut on the projection, and the space adjustment means presses the one support toward the projection and adjusts the space between the one and the other drift tubes by plastically deforming the projection.

    摘要: A vacuum encapsulated, hermetically sealed cathode capsule for generating an electron beam of secondary electrons, which generally includes a cathode element having a primary emission surface adapted to emit primary electrons, an annular insulating spacer, a diamond window element comprising a diamond material and having a secondary emission surface adapted to emit secondary electrons in response to primary electrons impinging on the diamond window element, a first cold-weld ring disposed between the cathode element and the annular insulating spacer and a second cold-weld ring disposed between the annular insulating spacer and the diamond window element. The cathode capsule is formed by a vacuum cold-weld process such that the first cold-weld ring forms a hermetical seal between the cathode element and the annular insulating spacer and the second cold-weld ring forms a hermetical seal between the annular spacer and the diamond window element whereby a vacuum encapsulated chamber is formed within the capsule.

    摘要: The present invention relates to the formation of a vacuum electronics circuit by the fusion bonding of multiple substrate wafers, e.g., silicon, copper, or other suitable conductive material, each etched using DRIE, cut using EDM, or machined by other suitable means. Other aspects of the invention relate to the alignment of a cathode with tube by fusion bonding the cathode wafer to a tube built using the fabrication methods described herein. Yet other aspects involve the alignment of dies or wafers during the fabrication of a vacuum electronics device using the “lego” technique outlined herein. In yet other aspects, fabrication methods are described.

    摘要: A solid state Klystron structure is fabricated by forming a source contact and a drain contact to both ends of a conducting wire and by forming a bias gate and a signal gate on the conducting wire. The conducting wire may be at least one carbon nanotube or at least one semiconductor wire with long ballistic mean free paths. By applying a signal at a frequency that corresponds to an integer multiple of the transit time of the ballistic carriers between adjacent fingers of the signal gate, the carriers are bunched within the conducting wire, thus amplifying the current through the solid state Klystron at a frequency of the signal to the signal gate, thus achieving a power gain.

    摘要: An electron tube includes: a microwave structure having an evacuated envelope including two ends, the microwave structure being at a reference potential, an electron gun including a cathode for providing a beam of electrons, along an axis, at one end of the evacuated envelope, an electron collector for gathering electrons of the beam at the other end of the evacuated envelope, and at least one high-voltage power supply for applying to the cathode a negative high-voltage potential with respect to the reference potential. The tube includes between the cathode and the microwave structure a device for extracting the positive ions including at least one electrode carried to a negative potential with respect to the reference potential so as to extract positive ions from the evacuated envelope, these positive ions being produced by the impacting of the electrons of the electron beam with molecules of residual gas in the evacuated envelope. The invention has application to microwave electron tubes, klystron TWT etc. using a cylindrical electron beam.

    摘要: A klystron tube for amplifying signals at microwave radio frequencies utilizes an electron source for emitting electrons through a field focused by a high energy magnet in the RF section of the tube. After the electrons have passed through the active area of the tube, the electrons strike the collector which, in this case, is a multistage depressed collector. The multistages of the depressed collector are connected to high energy voltage sources of different potentials. The klystron tube with the multistage depressed collector is uniquely used here for the first time in a ground based satellite or terrestrial communications system.
