    摘要: An optical cross-connect (OCX), which is designed for switching so-called optical channels of different multiplex levels with respectively defined bit rates, comprises a number of input/output ports (IO1, IO2, IO3) which are respectively adapted for transmitting and receiving communication signals of a given multiplex level. The cross-connect further comprises, for each multiplex level, a separate space switching matrix (S1, S2, S3) which is adapted to that multiplex level. The individual switching matrices (S1, S2, S3) are interconnected via multiplexers (MUX1, MUX2). Communication signals which are to be switched to an output of the same multiplex level are switched directly by the respective switching matrix to the respective output, whereas communication signals which are to be switched to an output of a lower or higher multiplex level are first switched by the respective switching matrix to one of the multiplexers, where they are multiplexed or demultiplexed and then forwarded to the switching matrix of the next-higher or next-lower multiplex level respectively, which then switches the multiplexed or demultiplexed communication signals to the respective input.

A disaster recovery interface point provides an interface to one or more remote switches. Each ring incorporates a dormant master multiplexer coupled to the disaster recovery point and which is activated in response to a failure of the switch as a replacement master multiplexer so as to re-route traffic on the synchronous ring to the remote switch. This maintains service in the event of a catastrophic failure of the switch.

    摘要: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for improving the performance and connection establishing capability of multi-stage switching networks by providing additional intelligent features in the individual switching apparatus devices at each stage of the network. The invention method is particularly effective in asynchronous circuit-switched networks. The most important feature to be added is adaptivity of the switching apparatus; where adaptivity means the ability of each switching element to determine for itself which of several optional alternate paths to try at each stage of the network based on availability. This is a better approach because it brings the decision directly to the switching apparatus involved, which has the data required to make an intelligent path selection decision to circumvent blocking in the multi-stage network.

    摘要: An optical signal transmission device is used for transmitting optical light rays from a number of light emitters to a number of light receivers, and includes a substrate, a number of first optical waveguide elements, a number of second optical waveguide elements, a number of reflectors, and an integrated circuit. The substrate has a first side surface for positioning the light emitters, and a second side surface for positioning the light receivers. The light emitters and the light receivers are corresponding to the first optical waveguide elements. The second optical waveguide elements intersect with the first optical waveguide elements to form a number of hollow junctions for receiving the reflectors. Each reflector can rotate around a rotating shaft thereof in the corresponding hollow junction to change the optical transmission path of light rays from the light emitters. The integrated circuit controls rotating angles of the reflectors.
