An insulated duct assembly includes an elongated duct, an insulation blanket, at least one sheet of escape wick material and a tape layer. The insulation blanket has an inner wicking layer. The insulation blanket is applied to the elongated duct so as to create a seam aligned longitudinally with respect to the duct. The seam is defined by first and second edges of the insulation blanket. The at least one sheet of escape wick material is disposed along at least one edge of the insulation blanket. The at least one sheet of escape wick material has a nullCnull shaped cross-section surrounding the at least one edge of the insulation blanket. The tape layer is disposed along and covers the seam.

A flexible pipe for use in sub-sea and land-based applications having an innermost core of crosslinked polyethylene, in which the crosslinked polyethylene is cured by electron beam irradiation.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a multilayer polymer structure including an inner structural layer (A) of a rigid polymer composition, an intermediate or tie layer (B) of a polymer composition including a thermoplastic polyurethane, and an exposed or surface layer (C) of a polymer composition including a thermoplastic elastomer, which is preferably a partially cross-linked chlorinated olefin interpolymer alloy. Layer (B) is disposed between and bonded to layers (A) and (C). Preferably, layer (C) and layer (B) are bonded to layer (A) under pressure, at a temperature at which both the layer (C) and layer (B) are at or near their respective melting or softening points, but layer (A) is maintained at a temperature at which it remains dimensionally stable. Multilayer polymer structures according to the invention can be formed into decking material, conveyor belting and a variety of other products.
Abstract:
A process for producing a low-profile, high-strength dilatation catheter balloon is disclosed. The process comprises forming a tubular extrudate and quenching said extrudate in a cryogenic fluid. The quenched extrudate has morphology of a largely disordered material. The crystallinity in the extrudate is no more than 15%. The crystallinity of the extrudate is measured using X-ray crystallography or DSC. The extrudate is further processed in a mold in which the extrudate is longitudinally and radially stretched. The stretched extrudate is finally attached as a balloon to the distal end of a catheter.
Abstract:
A process for extrusion blow molding an article, and an extrusion blow-molded article, in which a solid radially outwardly extending flange is blown into the tubular side wall of the article. A circumferentially extending groove is formed in the inner surface of the mold that molds the tubular side wall of the article. A parison of molten thermoplastic material is extruded and the parison is inflated by blowing to blow the parison against the walls of a mold. During inflation, the groove is filled by the molten thermoplastic material. The material that filled the groove forms a solid radially outwardly extending flange molded to the tubular side wall of the article. A portion of the article extending above the flange is severed in a single cutting step to form an article having an outward flange at its top end.

Abstract:
The polyester film roll, which is free from wrinkles and slacks generated with the passage of time and is having a good roll appearance, is provided without changing the characteristics of the film. The polyester film roll is a polyester film roll in which a polyester film is rolled on a core, characterized in that the difference R (m) between the maximum value and the minimum value is not more than 2 Wnull10null3 and not more than Lnull10null7, when the diameters of said roll are measured in the width direction of the roll, (therein, W is the width (m) of the film roll, and L is the rolled length (m) of the film roll), or a polyester film roll in which a polyester film is rolled on a core, characterized in that, among the lengths of lines which are obtained by measuring the diameters of said roll in the width direction of the roll, drawing a straight line between both the ends of the curved line of the obtained roll diameters, and then vertically drawing the lines from said curved line to said straight line, the maximum length (maximum convex portion) on the convex portion side from said straight line is not more than 500 nullm, and the maximum length (maximum concave portion) on the concave portion side from said straight line is not more than 300 nullm.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for the welding of two polyamide parts, both made of a polyamide composition comprising a polyamide and optionally additives, the polyamide of one part (part L) having a lower softening temperature than the polyamide of the other part (part H) and wherein the polyamide composition of part L comprises one or more viscosity increasing additives increasing the melt shear viscosity of the polyamide composition at least by 30% compared to melt shear viscosity of the polyamide (measured according to ISO 11443 (A1) standard at a shear rate of 100 snull1 in a capillary rheometer with I/dnull30 mm/1 mm). The advantage is that a good weld strength is obtained and that parts with different properties can be combined. The invention further relates to polyamide welded objects obtainable by the process, like corrugated tubes, bellows, containers, fuel inlet systems, air inlet manifolds and airducts.
