摘要: An apparatus includes a plurality of demultiplexing modules, a plurality of multiplexing modules, and a plurality of N×N switching modules. Each demultiplexing module is connected to P N×N switching modules through optical fibers. Each multiplexing module is connected to P N×N switching modules through optical fibers. Demultiplexing modules and multiplexing modules are connected to same N×N switching modules. At least one N×N switching module connected to a target demultiplexing module has a function of switching optical signals of a plurality of wavelengths for the target demultiplexing module. A quantity of wavelengths of optical signals received by each N×N switching module connected to the target demultiplexing module from the target demultiplexing module is less than a target value, and the target value is a quantity of wavelengths of optical signals received by the target demultiplexing module.

摘要: A low latency free-space optical data communication channel has at least two opposing parabolic mirrors for transmitting an optical communication signal in the form of a parallel beam across a free-space channel. The input and output of the collimators are multicore optical fibers. Multiple cores of the multicore optical fibers are positioned at the focal points of the at least two opposing parabolic mirrors and the at least two opposing parabolic mirrors image the optical communications signal in each core of the multiple cores of the multicore fibers into corresponding cores of opposing multicore fibers forming at least one optical communication channel.

摘要: An optical switching apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes one or more input ports, a dispersion assembly, a first lens assembly, a redirection assembly, and one or more output ports. The input ports are configured to input a first beam into a dispersion assembly at a first angle of incidence in a first direction, and to input a second beam into the dispersion assembly at a second angle of incidence in the first direction. A difference between absolute values of the first angle of incidence and the second angle of incidence is not zero, and enables a first region in which spots of the first beam are arranged and a second region in which spots of the second beam are arranged to be separated from each other in the first direction, and enables the first region and the second region to at least partially overlap in a second direction.

Notably, the optics for processing the optical WDM signals in the disclosed optical WSS devices is designed to provide scalable optical WSS devices where different WDM signals share optical components to reduce designed optical components for different WDM signals.

摘要: The imaging system has a photonic circuit chip that includes multiple cores that each includes a port through which an outgoing optical signal exits the photonic circuit chip. Each of the cores is configured such that the outgoing signal exits the photonic circuit chip traveling toward a location that is above or below the photonic circuit chip. Additionally, each of the cores is configured to combine light from one of the outgoing signals with a reference signal so as to generate a signal beating at a beat frequency. The imaging system also includes electronics that use the beat frequencies from the cores to calculate data that indicates a radial velocity and/or distance between the system and one or more objects located outside of the system.

摘要: An active mode image sensor for optical non-uniformity correction (NUC) of an active mode sensor uses a Micro-Electro-Mechanical System (MEMS) Micro-Mirror Array (MMA) having tilt, tip and piston mirror actuation to form and scan a laser spot that simultaneously performs the NUC and illuminates the scene so that the laser illumination is inversely proportional to the response of the imager at the scan position. The MEMS MMA also supports forming and scanning multiple laser spots to simultaneously interrogate the scene at the same or different wavelengths. The piston function can also be used to provide wavefront correction. The MEMS MMA may be configured to generate a plurality of fixed laser spots to perform an instantaneous NUC.

摘要: A modular routing node includes a single input port and a plurality of output ports. The modular routing node is arranged to produce a plurality of different deflections and uses small adjustments to compensate for wavelength differences and alignment tolerances in an optical system. An optical device is arranged to receive a multiplex of many optical signals at different wavelengths, to separate the optical signals into at least two groups, and to process at least one of the groups adaptively.
