The virus inactivating sheet can inactivate viruses adhering thereto and includes a sheet body, and monovalent copper compound fine particles and/or iodide fine particles that are held by the sheet body. The virus inactivating sheet can inactivate various viruses. These viruses can be inactivated even in the presence of lipids and proteins.

Oleaginous ointment compositions for topical antibacterial treatment containing about 0.5 to about 1.5% yellow mercuric oxide by weight and additionally containing organic acids selected from the group consisting of alkanoic acids of formula CH.sub.3 (CH.sub.2).sub.n COOH, wherein n is an integer from 4 to 22, and arylalkanoic acids of formula C.sub.6 H.sub.5 (CH.sub.2).sub.n COOH, wherein n is an integer from 0 to 17, to increase the color stability of the compositions. A method of making the novel stabilized ointment compositions is also disclosed.
