    摘要: Method for the liquid solid separation of material mixtures and suspensions in which the material mixture under pressure is fed into a closed chamber having at least one filter surface and a hydrostatic pressure is generated within said chamber for separating the liquid phase. After separating the liquid phase the chamber is opened and the filter surface together with the filter cake is removed from said chamber. The material mixture firstly is treated by the means of hydrostatic pressure of about up to 0.2 bar, wherein 80 to 90% of the fed volume is removed as filtrate. Thereafter the concentrated remaining volume is drawn off and is further treated in the closed chamber with a pressure of up to 5 bar. By reducing the volume of the chamber finally with a pressure of up to 50 bar the remaining filtrate is separated.

    摘要: A self-cleaning intake screen assembly for preventing debris, fish, and other wildlife from being transferred from a waterway such as a lake or river, which includes a conical support structure, a screen and a screen sweeping assembly. The conical support structure has a circular base, a cap plate, and a plurality of support studs extending therebetween. The screen extends between the base and the cap plate and is affixed to the support studs. The screen sweeping assembly is rotatably mounted to the cap plate for sweeping debris off of the screen. A flow restrictor is disposed inside the conical support structure for restricting water flow through a portion of the screen in order to reduce differences in water flow rates through different portions of the screen.

The process may include positioning two surfaces to converge in a downstream direction, feeding the fibrous pulp suspension between the two converging surfaces, driving at least one of the two converging surfaces to move the suspension with a relative translational velocity, and draining the fibrous pulp suspension through each of the two surfaces. The device may include two arcuate surfaces positioned to form converging surfaces. One of the two arcuate surfaces may include a drivable, pivotable, and rotatable cylinder having an outer sleeve with openings, the other of the two arcuate surfaces may include a screen positioned to be guided around at least a portion of the outer sleeve. The screen and the openings may form drains for draining the fluid pulp suspension.

    摘要: The disclosure relates to a method and apparatus for removing separable impurities from a liquid. In the method, the liquid is caused to pass radially through a cylindrical roll of web-like, wet-strength fiber material at the same time as the fiber web which forms the roll is continuously drawn out at low speed from the roll at that circumferential side where the liquid is caused to enter. As a result, the roll constantly offers a relatively clean surface to the penetrating liquid. The apparatus comprises a chamber for the roll, a conduit for conducting the liquid to the one circumferential side of the roll, a discharge for conveying off liquid from the vessel at the other side of the roll, rollers for guided withdrawal of the fiber web, and a receptacle for collecting the web withdrawn from the roll.

    摘要: A sealing port for a filtering device of the type disclosed and claimed in U.S. Pat. No. 3,471,017 is described. The sealing port has two separate sections in uninterrupted communication with one another for sealing purposes but thermally isolated from one another. Both sections are provided with both heating means and coolng means which are controllable to permit the performance of a process sequence wherein a stressed barrier plug (i.e., a sealing plug formed while subject to the hydrostatic pressure of a substance being filtered) is formed in the innermost section (i.e., the section next adjacent the filtering passage), the stressed barrier plug is then maintained while stresses in the substance filling the outer section are relaxed by heating the outer section, a substantially unstressed sealing plug is then formed in the outer section by cooling to solidification the substance therein, and then the stressed barrier plug is softened to enable the unstressed plug in the outer section to be moved for advancing the filter. This sequence is then repeated for further advancement of the filter. By this means difficult substances even exhibiting expansion on cooling can be caused to form sealing plugs capable of ready advancement through the sealing ports.

    摘要: A process and apparatus for filtering a substance flowing through a passage in which a filter is introduced through inlet and outlet ports so that a part of the filter extends across the passage, a flowable sealing substance is provided in the ports and temperature conditions are established resulting in the formation in the ports of sealing plugs of the flowable sealing substance, the filter is supported across the passage by means of a movable backing support adapted to receive substance filtering through the filter and to enable the extraction therefrom of filtered substance, and the force applied to the backing support as the result of a hydrostatic pressure differential across the filter urging the filter against the backing support is equalized by applying to the backing support a counteracting force thereby to reduce the net force tending to restrict the ease of movement of the backing support, the movement of the filter through the ports to introduce another part thereof into the passage being effected under conditions providing for maintenance of the said sealing plugs. In some embodiments the counteracting force is developed as a result of a hydrostatic pressure differential across at least one other filter supported upon the movable backing support urging said at least one other filter against the backing support, whereas in other embodiments the passage forms a chamber across which the filter extends and, for hydrostatic force equalization, the filter is arranged so as to be subject on opposed surfaces thereof to the pressure of substance to be filtered, the filter having an interior permeable to the substance to be filtered and into which filtered substance flows and from which the filtered substance is extracted. Also disclosed are forms of filters adapted for use in such a process and apparatus.
