    Abstract: The present invention is directed towards a disk braking system for a bicycle having a rear disk coupled to a rear wheel. A rear brake caliper is coupled to a rear brake lever and the rear brake caliper is also coupled to a hydraulic actuator which has a piston that slides within a cylinder filled with hydraulic fluid and hydraulic tubing coupled to the cylinder and a front brake. When the rear wheel and rear disk are rotating, the rear brake caliper can be actuated which causes compresses rear brake caliper against the rear disk to slow the rotation of the rear wheel. The movement of the rear brake caliper can actuate the hydraulic actuator which causes hydraulic fluid to flow through the hydraulic tubing to actuate a front brake.

    Abstract: A hydraulic operating device for a small vehicle including a bicycle is basically provided with a base member, an operating member, a piston, a handlebar fixing structure and a hydraulic reservoir tank. The base member includes a cylinder having a cylinder bore. The operating member is pivots about a pivot axis to move the piston within the cylinder bore. The handlebar fixing structure defines a handlebar arrangement area. The hydraulic reservoir tank has a hydraulic fluid chamber fluidly connected to the cylinder bore. The cylinder defines a hydraulic pressure chamber with a space between the piston and a fluid outlet port of the cylinder. The hydraulic reservoir tank is partially disposed on a first side of the handlebar fixing structure while the hydraulic pressure chamber is disposed on a second side of the handlebar fixing structure as view in the pivot axis direction.

    Abstract: A brake system for bicycles includes two pivotably connected first and second arms and two brake pads are respectively connected to the first and second arms. A cable unit is connected to the second arm and includes a brake cable. A link unit includes a first link which is connected between the second arm and the brake cable. A second link has a first end connected to the first arm and a second end of the second link is pivotably connected to a mediate portion of the first link. The distance between the two ends of the first link is longer than the distance between the second end of the first link to the second end of the second link. The brake cable is lifted with less force, the first link lifts the second link which moves the first arm to pivot to stop the wheel rim.

    Abstract: A motor-assisted pedal tricycle has two parallel rear wheels mounted on corresponding first and second axially-aligned axles via overriding clutches. The axially-aligned axles are connected to a differential which is driven by an electric motor, and which allows the first and second wheels to rotate independently of one another. Power may also be applied to one of the rear wheels via a pedal mechanism, which is connected to the wheel via an overriding clutch. The tricycle may be operated using pedal power and motor power independently or in combination. Moreover, the rear wheels may rotate in a forward direction independently of the differential, the motor, and the pedals when the motor and the pedals are not in use, or when the vehicle is travelling at a speed faster than that which can be attained under power of the motor and the pedals either independently or in combination.

    Abstract: A caliper brake for a bicycle comprises a pair of pivot mounts, one of which is mounted on a bicycle member laterally of a wheel rim, one on either side of the wheel. A brake arm is pivotally mounted in cantilevered relation on each pivot mount adjacent its lower end, is biassed away from the wheel rim, and carries a brake shoe intermediate its ends. A guide is affixed to a member of the bicycle above the wheel. A brake lever cable is connected directly to the upper end of one brake arm. A sheath of the brake lever cable terminates in spaced-apart relation to the upper end of the one brake arm to which the cable is attached and has its end received in a holder. A yoke cable is affixed to the upper end of the other brake arm, passes partway around the guide and is affixed to the sheath holder.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a hydraulic rim brake for bicycles with a triggering mechanism which is attached to the handlebar of the bicycle and is actuated by a hand lever, with two brake cylinder housings which are attached to the frame of the bicycle in oppositely located relationship to each other and enclose between them a wheel rim, the brake cylinder housings being connected by pressure lines to the triggering mechanism, with pistons displaceable in the brake cylinder housings, and with brake shoe supports arranged on these pistons for supporting brake shoes engaging the rim.
