Abstract:
An object of the invention is to provide an anisotropic light absorption film having both a high alignment degree and high light resistance, and a laminate provided using the anisotropic light absorption film. An anisotropic light absorption film according to the embodiment of the invention is formed from a composition having a first dichroic azo dye, a second dichroic azo dye, and a compound represented by Formula (I) or a polymer thereof, the first dichroic azo dye has a solution absorption maximum wavelength of 400 nm or greater and less than 550 nm, the second dichroic azo dye has a solution absorption maximum wavelength of 550 nm or greater and 750 nm or less, and the film has an arrangement structure of the first dichroic azo dye or an arrangement structure of the second dichroic azo dye therein.

Described are dyes of formula (I) where R1 is hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, trifluoromethyl or halogen, M is hydrogen, an alkali metal cation or an optionally substituted ammonium cation, R2 and R3 are each independently hydrogen, alkyl or alkoxy, R4 is alkyl or alkoxy, R5 and R6 are each independently moieties of the formula —(CmH2m)—O—CnH2n+1, m is an integer from 3 to 6, and n is an integer from 0 to 8. These dyes are useful for dyeing and printing materials having polar groups.

Azo dyes having a 2,6-diamino-pyridine as coupling component, one of the amino groups bearing a bicyclic or polycyclic non-aromatic radical as a substituent. The dyes are eminently suitable as disperse dyes, particularly for synthetic linear polyesters, and give bright dyeings having excellent fastness properties.

The present invention provides a novel azo compound having a quenching ability for the material that exhibits a luminescent phenomenon at an excited energy level, a quencher comprising the novel azo compound, a use of the quencher and a method for preparing the azo compound. The quencher according to the present invention may exhibit excellent characteristics in a wavelength absorption region.
