A steel cord is formed by compactly twisting steel filaments together, the steel filaments including a plurality of zigzag filaments and optionally a nonzigzag filament, the zigzag filament being zigzaged two-dimensionally and made up of straight segments each extending between the zigzag peak points, the nonzigzag filament being straight. In case the cord is composed of only the zigzag filaments, the zigzag filaments include at least two kinds of zigzag filaments having different zigzag pitch lengths. In case the cord is composed of both the zigzag filaments and nonzigzag filaments, some of the zigzag and nonzigzag filaments are first loosely twisted together into a bunch, and then a plurality of bunches are twisted together into the cord. In any case, the zigzag pitch length and zigzag wave height of each zigzag filament are substantially constant along the length thereof. A Tire comprises a reinforcing layer such as a tread reinforcing belt layer, carcass, bead reinforcing layer and the like made of the above-mentioned steel cords.

Disclosed are polyester multi-filamentary yarn useful as a reinforcement for tires and a dipped cord formed therefrom. The polyester multi-filamentary yarn comprises at least 90 mol % of polyethylene terephthalate and has an intrinsic viscosity of 0.70-1.2 and a tenacity of 5.5-8.5 g/d with an intermediate elongation difference (E1−E0) between intermediate elongations E0 and E1 amounting to 6% or greater. The polyester dipped cord is produced by subjecting at least two strands of polyester multi-filamentary yarn to first twisting and second twisting, the polyester multi-filamentary yarn comprising 90 mol % of polyethylene terephthalate; forming the strands into a fabric; and treating the fabric with blocked isocyanate and resorcinol formaldehyde latex (RFL), wherein the cord satisfies the following characteristics: a) a tenacity of 5.0 g/d or greater, b) a dimensional stability index (E4.5+SR) of less than 7.0%, c) a breaking elongation of 9% or greater, and d) an intermediate elongation difference (E1−E0) of 3% or less. Showing a harmony of high elastic modulus and low shrinkage, the filamentary yarn and dipped cords are superior in dimensional stability and fatigue resistance, so they can be used as reinforcements for rubber composites such as tires.

The object is to provide a carbon fiber-reinforced rubber material which is superior in heat resistance, water resistance, and dimensional stability and exhibits resistance to fatigue from flexing at a practical level. The present invention relates to a prepreg comprising a liquid rubber composition having a viscosity in a range of 0.01 Pa·s to 100 Pa·s at 70° C. and substantially containing no solvent, the liquid rubber being impregnated into a reinforcing fiber, and relates to a fiber-reinforced rubber material comprising the prepreg in which the liquid rubber is crosslinked. Also, the present invention relates to a fiber-reinforced rubber material comprising a substrate comprising a rubber component, the substrate being reinforced by a core material comprising a prepreg of a reinforcing fiber impregnated with the same rubber component.
