    Abstract: An aspirator provides linear control over air flow for manipulation of extruded fibers. A distribution manifold has a barrel valve between first and second flow channels, enabling precise, linear control over air flowing from a charge conduit to a pressure chamber surrounding a discharge pipe. Plural orifices in the discharge pipe connect the pressure chamber to the interior thereof, which is configured as a Venturi tube. Discharge pipe surfaces that can contact filaments therein are of hardened material while non-contact surfaces are of lighter materials.

    Abstract: A plurality of colored filament bundles are initially extruded separately, cooled and each combined into a partial thread. The partial threads are then separately pre-swirled and stretched individually or as a partial composite thread formed from a plurality of partial threads. Crimping then occurs. After the crimping, the partial threads and the partial composite thread are combined into a composite thread and wound into a coil. In accordance with certain techniques, a melt spinning apparatus has a pre-swirling apparatus having a plurality of swirling nozzles, a post-swirling device having a plurality of post-swirling nozzles and a crimping device having a plurality of texturing nozzles, wherein the nozzles are designed such that an individual partial thread or a partial composite thread formed from a plurality of partial threads can optionally be processed.

    Abstract: A thread intermingling device for textile machines includes a nozzle oriented to intercept the path of the base threads, a corresponding compressed-air feed line and intercepting means to intercept the line. The base threads are led next to the nozzle and impinged by a jet of compressed air causing intermingling. A control unit controls the intercepting means for shutting down the feed to the nozzle instantaneously or with delay with respect to the device stop and for reactivating the feed of compressed air to the nozzle instantaneously or in advance with respect to the device restart, and for the feedback automatic reactivation depending on the detected speed or movement of base threads.

    Abstract: Various embodiments are directed to a yarn analyzer comprising a measurement mechanism configured to monitor the local thickness of the yarn moving along a yarn path. The measurement mechanism comprises a fixed member and a displaceable member between which the yarn path passes. The displaceable member is secured relative to a mechanical amplifier comprising a pivotable lever arm at a first end of the pivotable lever arm at a short distance from the pivot axis of the lever arm, and is biased toward the fixed member. The measurement mechanism further comprises a displacement sensor configured to monitor the displacement of a reference component secured relative to a second end of the lever arm at a long distance from the pivot axis. The monitored movement of the reference component is correlated with the thickness of the yarn, such that the yarn thickness is recorded for the length of yarn.
