摘要: The knitted textiles include a knitted structure including a plurality of hollow yarns. Each hollow yarn includes a yarn body and defines a yarn hole extending through the yarn body to allow expansion of the yarn body upon inflation of each hollow yarn through the yarn hole. The knitted structure is configured to transition from an unexpanded state to an expanded state in response to the inflation of the hollow yarns through the yarn hole. The knitted structure has a first porosity in the unexpanded state, and the knitted structure has a second porosity in the expanded state. The second porosity is less than the first porosity such that a visibility through the knitted structure is greater when the knitted structure is in the unexpanded state than when the knitted structure is in the expanded state.

摘要: The process of the present invention may be used to produce polyester filaments that exhibit superior moisture and perspiration absorption. In various embodiments, this process involves: (1) pre-crystallizing polyester chips in a crystallizer; (2) drying and ventilating the polyester chips after crystallization to produce dried polyester chips; (3) melting the dried polyester chips in a screw extruder; (4) filter the melted polyester chips to form a filtered melt; (5) introducing the filtered melt into a spinning box via a metering pump, wherein the filtered melt enters the spinning assembly; (6) extruding the filaments from the spinning assembly; (7) cooling the extruded filaments from the spinning assembly to room temperature in order to solidify the filaments and form a fiber tow; and (8) winding the fiber tow via a winding machine to form a wound tow. The process described herein can produce polyester filaments that comprise a longitudinal groove along the surface of fiber, which can provide a capillary effect that enhances the moisture wicking capabilities of the filaments. Consequently, the polyester filaments of the present invention can be used to produce woven articles, such as reinforcement fabrics, that comprise fiber micro-grooves along the surface of the article, thereby enhancing the article's sweat wicking capabilities, water diffusion capabilities, and water transfer capabilities. Furthermore, the use of these grooved polyester filaments of the present invention can facilitate the migration of water and moisture to the surface of the fabric, thereby allowing the moisture to spread out on the surface and enabling it to quickly evaporate. Consequently, this can keep the skin of the wearer dry.

摘要: A nonwoven fabric. The nonwoven fabric can include a first surface and a second surface and a visually discernible pattern of three-dimensional features on one of the first or second surface. Each of the three-dimensional features can define a microzone comprising a first region and a second region. The first and second regions can have a difference in values for an intensive property, and wherein in at least one of the microzones, the first region is hydrophobic and the second region is hydrophilic.

摘要: Glass-fiber mats for lead-acid batteries are described. The glass-fiber mats may include a plurality of glass fibers held together with a binder. The binder may be made from a binder composition that includes (i) an acid resistant polymer, and (ii) a hydrophilic agent. The hydrophilic agent increases the wettability of the glass-fiber mat such that the glass-fiber mat forms a contact angle with water or aqueous sulfuric acid solution of 70° or less. Also described are methods of making the glass-fiber mats that include applying a binder composition to the glass fibers, and including a hydrophilic agent in the glass fiber mat that increases the wettability of the mat. The hydrophilic agent may be added to the binder composition, applied to the glass-fiber mat, or both.

摘要: A process is described wherein pile yarn is woven with cotton weft and warp yarns to produce terry fabrics, such as towels. The fabric is then washed in warm water to dissolve the PVA fibers. The amount of fibers dissolved, depends upon the count of the yarn or yarns used. By dissolving the PVA fibers, a hollow air space is produced throughout the pile yarn, corresponding to an increase in the air space in the pile yarn. By increasing the air space in the pile yarn, the resulting towels are softer and bulkier than standard cotton towels. The present invention further relates to pile yarn in terry woven fabric (warp yarn), or weft yarn, in the case of flat fabrics.
