Electronic driving components sized to drive contactors of a determined power class are generally used. The object of the invention is to create a process and circuitry which allows contactors of different power classes to be driven by a single driving component. The user selects on a scale the switching position corresponding to the contactor to be driven. A reference voltage proportional to the magnitude of the starting current of the respective contactor is thus selected. An automatic regulation keeps constant the starting current during the starting time of the contactor. For that purpose, a measurement voltage proportional to the magnitude of the starting system and dropping across a measuring resistor is supplied to a first input of a comparator, a reference voltage which may be selected by a coding switch (6) being applied to the second input of the comparator. The output of the comparator co-operates with a switching element which switches the starting current. This circuitry may be mounted upstream of existing contactors, in particular on a top hat rail.

An electromagnetic contact device performs on-off operations for opening and closing an electrical path, without causing the hunting phenomenon between the two contact points in the device not only during closure of a fixed contact point and a movable contact point therein, but also when a voltage to be applied to an operating coil has lowered. An operating coil generates a predetermined energizing force in combination with a fixed iron core, a starting circuit rectifies a large capacity electric current from an AC power source when attracting a movable iron core and supplies the rectified current to the operating coil. A holding circuit supplies the large capacity current from the AC power source to the operating coil through means of converting the large capacity current to a small capacity current at the time of holding the movable iron core. A change-over switch changes the energizing current supply source for the operating coil from the starting circuit to the holding circuit, the change-over switch having a hysteresis characteristic such that it performs its off-operation after closure of both contact points when the main circuit is closed, and performs its on-operation after separation of both contact points when the voltage to be applied to the operating coil has been lowered.

The present application discloses a contactor coil control circuit, including a switch control circuit, a drive circuit, a fast turn-off circuit, a diode D1, a first MOS (Metal Oxide Semiconductor) transistor TR1 and a contactor coil. The fast turn-off circuit at least includes an MOS transistor TR2 or a triode; the cathode of the diode is connected to an input voltage VIN; the anode of the diode is connected to a first port of the fast turn-off circuit; a second port of the fast turn-off circuit is connected to the drain of the first MOS transistor; the source of the first MOS transistor is grounded; one end of the contactor coil L1 is connected to an input voltage, and the other end of the contactor coil is connected to the drain of the first MOS transistor; a third port of the fast turn-off circuit is connected to an output port of the drive circuit; an input port of the drive circuit is connected to a first output port of the switch control circuit; and a second output port of the switch control circuit is connected to the gate of the first MOS transistor.
