Abstract: A circuit breaker protects an electric low-voltage circuit, and has the function of ascertaining a level of the current of the low-voltage circuit. A mechanical separating contact unit is operated using a mechanical handle such that an opening function of contacts is switched to prevent a current flow or a closing function of the contacts is switched for a current flow in the low-voltage circuit. An electronic interruption unit is connected to the mechanical separating contact unit in series on the circuit side and which, as a result of semiconductor-based switch elements, has a high-ohmic state of the switch elements to prevent a current flow and a low-ohmic state of the switch elements for a current flow in the low-voltage circuit. The ascertained current level is compared with current thresholds and if the current thresholds are exceeded, a process for preventing the current flow in the low-voltage circuit is initiated.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure disclose a method for improving a performance of a pulsed-ultraviolet (PUV) device. The method includes monitoring an input current across a circuit breaker in communication with a UV lamp, where the input current is delivered by a power signal and is interrupted by the circuit breaker upon exceeding a predefined cut-off current; generating a pulse signal having a set of frequencies based on the power signal for driving the UV lamp, where the pulse signal is associated with a predetermined cut-off frequency that increases the input current beyond the cut-off current; determining a predefined threshold current less than the cut-off current; and configuring the pulse signal with multiple distinct pulse frequencies per second for a predefined configuration period based on the input current exceeding the threshold current. The distinct pulse frequencies per second include at least one pulse frequency greater than the cut-off frequency.

Abstract: A system may include a power supply that generates a first voltage. The power supply may couple upstream from an electrical load. The electrical load may operate based at least in part on the first voltage. In some cases, a solid-state circuit breaker may be coupled between the power supply and the electrical load. Furthermore, a control system may be communicatively coupled to the power supply, the electrical load, and the solid-state circuit breaker. The control system may receive an operational status from the solid-state circuit breaker and may update a visualization rendered on a graphical user interface based at least in part on the operational status. The operational status may indicate an operation of the solid-state circuit breaker coupling the power supply to the electrical load.

Abstract: A smart accessory device includes an actuator and is designed to be used to actuate an operating mechanism of a circuit breaker in order to either open or close the separable contacts of the circuit breaker. The accessory can be one of a shunt trip, spring release, or under voltage release device. The actuator includes a solenoid and plunger. The accessory determines the operating condition of the actuator based on how much current flows through the coil when the power source provides power to the accessory device, and continually executes a coil diagnostic to determine the operating condition of the coil while power is being provided to the accessory device. If the accessory fails to trip the circuit breaker when required, the accessory can determine whether the failure was due to either of the solenoid or the plunger.

Abstract: A circuit interrupting device with a temperature activated permanent lockout trip mechanism is provided. The temperature activated permanent lockout trip mechanism is located in close proximity to a section of conductor that generates heat. An energized first solenoid generates a magnetic force capable of moving an armature that unlatches a latch releasing a spring to open a main contactor removing power from an electrical circuit. The temperature activated permanent lockout trip mechanism upon reaching a predetermined temperature which is higher than the predetermined temperature threshold of the temperature sensing switch also generates a mechanical force capable of moving the armature that unlatches the latch releasing the spring to open the main contactor removing power from the electrical circuit. Once activated, the temperature activated permanent lockout trip mechanism inhibits the latch from latching which prevents a reset of the circuit interrupting device thus the circuit interrupting device is permanently disabled as the main contactor cannot be closed, and power no longer be reconnected to the electrical circuit.

Abstract: In one example, a hybrid circuit interrupter may include a three-coil architecture, first coil circuitry, leakage detection circuitry, and a main processing circuit including a processor. The three-coil architecture may include a coil housing, three coils, and a plurality of coil assembly conductors. The coils may be disposed within the coil housing. The coil assembly conductors may be at least partially disposed within the coil housing. The first coil circuitry may be connected to the first coil and may generate first coil signals. The leakage detection circuitry may be connected to the other two coils and may generate a leakage signal. The processor may receive the first coil signals, receive the leakage signal, determine whether an arc fault exists based on the first coil signals, determine whether a ground fault exists based on the leakage signal, and generate a first trigger signal if a fault is determined to exist.

Abstract: A rail-mountable electrical device having a “plug-in” receptacle for receiving a pluggable power cord in series with the circuit breaker while mounted on a hot bus bar within a breaker panel. In a first embodiment, the AC circuit breaker/receptacle combination device provides an accessible power outlet direct inside the breaker panel, for example during early construction when wiring of peripheral outlets has not been completed. Disclosed in a second embodiment is a dummy breaker body which comprises a plug receptacle and no circuit breaker. The dummy breaker body seats on the hot bus bar in a breaker panel but does not draw electricity directly, and instead is wired in series with a true circuit breaker proximate on the hot bus bar in a cis- or trans-position. The two body parts, dummy breaker body and circuit breaker, function independently but in series electrical connection. In the various embodiments, NEMA-type or aviation-type plug receptacles are conveniently made accessible within the breaker panel using these devices.

Abstract: A leakage current protection device includes a shell and a core assembly disposed within the shell. Movements of the two driving points of the second driving member in the second direction are operable to electrically connect or disconnect the input and output ends.
