    摘要： A method and apparatus for processing transactions related to content distribution. A content request is made through a user device and, in response to the request, the user device receives a direction to request a security component required to render the content. The user device then requests the security component from a computer associated with a transaction aggregator and billing information of the user is collected. The requested security component is returned to the user device and a protected instance of a rendering engine is created on the user device with the security component. The content is then rendered within the protected instance and the rendering operation is reported to the transaction aggregator.

    摘要： A rights expression system and method for facilitating creation and/or modification of rights expressions in a rights expression language based on one or more schemas are provided. In one embodiment, the rights expression system comprises selectable layouts corresponding to a rights granting paradigm and comprises type selection components. Each type selection component is adapted to present REL terms and input components. The input components allow input of parameters required by the selected REL term. The rights expression system also includes a data engine that generates rights expressions in proper REL semantics defined by the one or more schemas based on the selected layout and parameter inputted. The type selection components and input components may be type selectors and input forms, respectively, that are implemented in a graphical user interface.

A trusted rendering system facilitates the protection of rendered digital works which have been rendered on a system which controls the distribution and use of digital works through the use of dynamically generated watermark information that is embedded in the rendered output. The watermark data typically provides information relating to the owner of the digital work, the rights associated with the rendered copy of the digital work and when and where the digital work was rendered. This information will typically aid in deterring or preventing unauthorized copying of the rendered work to be made. The system for controlling distribution and use of digital works provides for attaching persistent usage rights to a digital work. Digital works are transferred between repositories which are used to request and grant access to digital works. Such repositories are also coupled to credit servers which provide for payment of any fees incurred as a result of accessing a digital work.
