Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a golf putter having an alignment means for aligning a golfer's line of sight directly over a golf ball and in line with a desired target. The putter head comprises a striking face and a rearwardly extending body portion. The body portion includes an upper section having an alignment bar protruding away from and perpendicular to the striking face and a lower section having an alignment slot extending away from and perpendicular to the striking face. The alignment bar and slot are centrally positioned and spaced apart from each other such that (i) the slot becomes obscured by the alignment bar when the golfer's line of sight is directly over the striking face and the golf ball at their point of contact, and (ii) the alignment bar and slot are in line with the desired target when the striking face strikes the golf ball.

A single bit analog-to-digital converter circuit is contained in a feedback path of the converter. The converter includes a feed forward path operable to multiply an input voltage by a feed forward coefficient having a value that is a function of a gain control input signal. The gain control input signal can have a value that is a function of the output of the multi bit quantizer.
Abstract:
Conduction loss in the body-diode of a low side MOSFET of a power switching stage of one phase of a coupled-inductor, multi-phase DC-DC converter circuit, associated with current flow in the output inductor of that one phase that is induced by current flow in a mutually coupled output inductor of another phase, during normal switching of that other stage, is effectively prevented by applying auxiliary MOSFET turn-on signals, that coincide with the duration of the induced current, to that low side MOSFET, so that the induced current will flow through the turned-on low side MOSFET itself, thereby by-passing its body-diode.
Abstract:
A circuit for determining the value of a datum stored in an array memory cell of a non-volatile memory device having at least one reference memory cell of known content. The circuit has a determination stage, which compares an array electrical quantity, correlated to a current flowing in the array memory cell, with a reference electrical quantity, and supplies an output signal indicative of the datum, based on the comparison; and a generator circuit, provided with an input receiving a target electrical quantity correlated to a current flowing in use in the reference memory cell, and an output, which supplies the reference electrical quantity with a controlled value close or equal to that of the target electrical quantity. The generator circuit is provided with a variable generator, and a control unit connected to, and designed to control, the variable generator so that it will generate the controlled value of the reference electrical quantity.
Abstract:
A signal regulator includes a switching circuit, a controller, and a threshold generator. The switching circuit generates a regulated output voltage, and the controller activates the switching circuit for a predetermined time when the regulated output signal has a predetermined relationship to a threshold voltage. The threshold generator generates the threshold voltage in response to the controller. Generating the threshold voltage in response to the switching controller can reduce the effect that noise has on the operation of the switching circuit, and can thus decrease the magnitude of the noise-induced jitter in the regulator's steady-state switching frequency as compared to conventional switching regulators.
Abstract:
A folding knife comprises a lock configured to more securely hold the blade in an extended position than conventional locks of conventional knives. The folding knife includes a handle, a blade movable relative to the handle to an extended position, and the lock that retains the blade in the extended position. The blade includes a cutting edge, and a tang that has a cavity and that is attached to the handle and pivotable about a pivot axis. The cavity includes a central axis parallel or substantially parallel with the pivot axis and that is located a distance away from the pivot axis that is greater than the distance between the pivot axis and the end of the handle. The lock includes a pin moveable relative to the handle and insertable into the cavity to retain the blade in an extended position. The lock holds the blade more securely by contacting the blade a further distance away from the location where the blade is attached to the handle than the distance between the same two locations of a conventional folding knife.
Abstract:
In a device for driving LEDs with variable light intensity, a supply stage has a first operating mode, in which a controlled supply current is generated, and a second operating mode, in which a controlled supply voltage is generated. A LED is connected to the supply stage, receives the controlled supply current or voltage, and has a turning-on threshold voltage higher than the controlled supply voltage. A current sensor generates a current-feedback signal that is correlated to the current flowing in the LED and is supplied to the supply stage in the first operating mode. An intensity-control stage generates a mode-control signal that is sent to the supply stage and controls sequential switching between the first and the second operating modes of the supply stage.
Abstract:
A method of analyzing a sample comprising directing a beam of light to a spot on the surface of a microarray treated with the sample using a digital micromirror device, and observing the SPR spectral shift due to a chemical binding event. The digital micromirror device can be, for example, that used in Digital Light Processing (DLP). Such a device can selectively place a pixel of light onto a microarray such that each spot can be observed at millisecond intervals and the whole microarray can be sequentially scanned over a relatively short period. The SPR spectral shift for each spot can be measured as a function of time, thus producing SPR detection of molecular binding in an array format.
