    Abstract: The present invention relates to an agglomerate abrasive grain made up of a plurality of individual abrasive grains which are bonded into an inorganic or organic binder matrix, wherein, based on the total weight of the agglomerate abrasive grain, at least 8% by weight of the abrasive grains which are bonded into the matrix are fused alumina-based polycrystalline alumina abrasive grains with a percentage of more than 97% by weight of alpha-alumina, and wherein the polycrystalline alumina abrasive grains, in turn, are made up of a plurality of Al2O3 primary crystals with a crystal size of between 20 μm and 100 μm. The agglomerate abrasive grain has a closed macroporosity with a pore volume of between 5% by volume and 30% by volume, wherein the average pore diameter of the closed macropores is between 10 μm and 100 μm and their maximum pore diameter is in the range of approx. 120 μm.

    Abstract: Systems and methods of treating an inorganic particulate material with an antimicrobial agent are discussed, including: introducing the inorganic particulate material and water to an air swept dryer; introducing the antimicrobial agent to the air swept dryer; and at least partially drying, and optionally at least partially pulverizing, the inorganic particulate material in the presence of the antimicrobial agent forming a treated inorganic particulate material, wherein at least a portion of the antimicrobial agent is exchanged onto and/or into the surface of the treated inorganic particulate material.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a novel process for preparing isotropic carbonaceous composite particles with favorable crystallographic, morphological & mechanical properties, wherein relatively fine carbonaceous primary particles are coated with a carbonaceous binder precursor material, agglomerated and finally heat-treated at temperatures between about 1850 and 3500° C. to convert the binder precursor material to non-graphitic or graphitic carbon, thereby resulting in stable highly isotropic carbonaceous composite materials wherein the primary particles of the aggregate are held together by the carbonized/graphitized binder. The present disclosure also relates to the isotropic carbonaceous composite particles obtainable by the process described herein. The disclosure further relates to uses of said isotropic carbonaceous composite material in various applications, including as active material in negative electrodes in lithium-ion batteries, and in secondary products containing said isotropic carbonaceous composite material.
