Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for controlling an autonomous vehicle (AV). A scene understanding module of a high-level controller selects a particular combination of sensorimotor primitive modules to be enabled and executed for a particular driving scenario from a plurality of sensorimotor primitive modules. Each one of the particular combination of the sensorimotor primitive modules addresses a sub-task in a sequence of sub-tasks that address a particular driving scenario. A primitive processor module executes the particular combination of the sensorimotor primitive modules such that each generates a vehicle trajectory and speed profile. An arbitration module selects one of the vehicle trajectory and speed profiles having the highest priority ranking for execution, and a vehicle control module processes the selected one of vehicle trajectory and speed profiles to generate control signals used to execute one or more control actions to automatically control the AV.

Abstract: A method in a multiprocessor system for processing multiple perception streams is disclosed. The method comprises: reading data from a plurality of perception streams according to a reading schedule determined by a predetermined policy, each perception stream comprising perception data from a different perception sensor; assigning a unique identification tag to each perception stream; writing each perception stream with its unique identification tag to a server input queue based on the predetermined policy; and processing the tagged perception streams using a server. The processing includes: retrieving tagged perception streams from the server input queue; applying a processing algorithm to process the retrieved tagged perception streams; and outputting the processed perception streams to a server output queue. The method further includes retrieving the processed perception streams from the server output queue and dispatching each retrieved processed perception stream to an appropriate post-processing destination based on the tag associated with the retrieved processed perception stream.

The method also includes determining a bandwidth at which each of the two or more vehicle sensors should provide the data, and providing a control signal to each of the two or more vehicle sensors to adjust the bandwidth based on the determining.

Abstract: A method for image style transfer using a Semantic Preserved Generative Adversarial Network (SPGAN) includes: receiving a source image; inputting the source image into the SPGAN; extracting a source-semantic feature data from the source image; generating, by the first decoder, a first synthetic image including the source semantic content of the source image in a target style of a target image using the source-semantic feature data extracted by the first encoder of the first generator network, wherein the first synthetic image includes first-synthetic feature data; determining a first encoder loss using the source-semantic feature data and the first-synthetic feature data; discriminating the first synthetic image against the target image to determine a GAN loss; determining a total loss as a function of the first encoder loss and the first GAN loss; and training the first generator network and the first discriminator network.

Abstract: A method and system including a central processing unit (CPU), an accelerator, a communication bus and a system memory device for dynamically processing an image file are described. The accelerator includes a local memory buffer, a data transfer scheduler, and a plurality of processing engines. The data transfer scheduler is arranged to manage data transfer between the system memory device and the local memory buffer, wherein the data transfer includes data associated with the image file. The local memory buffer is configured as a circular line buffer, and the data transfer scheduler includes a ping-pong buffer for transferring output data from the one of the processing engines to the system memory device. The local memory buffer is configured to execute cross-layer usage of data associated with the image file.

Abstract: One general aspect includes a memory configured to include a program and a processor configured to execute the program, where the program enables the processor to: after a first vehicle ingress/egress event, activate a sensor to capture a reference image of a portion of a vehicle body; after a second vehicle ingress/egress event, activate the sensor to capture a test image of the portion of the vehicle body; determine whether the test image includes one or more objects not found in the reference image; and release the door from the body or produce a notification or prevent vehicle movement or some combination thereof, based on the determination of whether the test image includes one or more objects not found in the reference image.

Abstract: A method of controlling a vehicle includes determining a current operating situation of the vehicle, and identifying a subset of a plurality of sensors of the vehicle needed to provide data to enable a vehicle control function for the current operating situation of the vehicle. A remainder of the plurality of sensors is disengaged to reduce electric energy usage by the vehicle while the vehicle is operating in the current operating situation of the vehicle. A sampling rate for the selected subset of sensors may be reduced to further reduce energy usage of the vehicle. Additionally, an energy reduction processing strategy may be implemented to reduce a processor frequency or a voltage of a computing device used to provide the vehicle control function to further reduce energy usage of the vehicle.

A testing module tests a control feature such as an algorithm or software using the 3-dimensional object data set. A control module executes command outputs from the control feature for evaluation.
