Abstract:
A system to detect and avoid spilled cargo in an automobile vehicle, includes an automobile vehicle rear cargo area including a floor to temporarily receive a storage item in the cargo area. A lift gate is moved between a closed and latched position and a fully open position inclusive to allow loading and removal of the storage item. A vision system identifies the storage item when initially loaded in the cargo area and identifies if the storage item is initially positioned in a cargo spill position or subsequently moves to the cargo spill position. A cargo stop device is releasably connected to the lift gate. An operating system releasably stores the cargo stop device when the storage item is not in the cargo spill position and deploys the cargo stop device when the storage item is in the cargo spill position.

An applique antenna for an automobile comprises a body panel having a body panel outer surface and a body panel cavity. An applique is configured to be received in the body panel cavity and to continue the styling lines of the body panel outer surface with a flush fit. A cavity is defined between the body panel cavity and the applique. An antenna structure is disposed within the cavity and is decoupled from the body panel cavity by the applique.
Abstract:
Presented are control systems for governing analog and digital radio services in motor vehicles, methods for making/using such systems, and vehicles equipped with such systems. A method of controlling a vehicle includes an in-vehicle radio tuner receiving selections of broadcast radio stations output by analog signals and/or streaming radio stations output by digital signals. A vehicle controller retrieves a memory-stored broadcast station service (BSS) map with a service contour containing available broadcast radio stations having sufficient signal strength within a designated area. The controller receives geopositional data indicative of the host vehicle's location, and accesses a remote database to retrieve an updated BSS map that corresponds to the vehicle's location. The controller then determines if the stored BSS map corresponds to the updated BSS map; if not, the radio tuner responsively displays an updated list of available stations revised to reflect available stations contained in the updated BSS map.

The system also includes a radio unit including a plurality of tuners and a demultiplexer in electrical communication with the plurality of tuners. The system also includes a transmission line for connecting the antenna farm unit to the radio unit, where the transmission line has a first terminal and a second terminal, and where the first terminal of the transmission line is electrically connected to the multiplexer and the second terminal of the transmission line is electrically connected to the demultiplexer.
Abstract:
An antenna system for a vehicle includes a first antenna array affixed to the vehicle and a remote antenna system. A first connector is affixed to the vehicle, and is connected to the controllable switch. The remote antenna system includes a second antenna array including a second active antenna and a wiring harness. The wiring harness includes a second signal lead connected to the second active antenna, a ground lead, and a second connector. The signal lead and the ground lead connect the second active antenna of the second antenna array to the second connector. The first connector is connectable to the second connector, and the switch array communicates signals from the second antenna array to the on-vehicle controller when the second connector of the second antenna array is connected to the first connector.
Abstract:
A mount system, such as for a vehicle antenna, includes a module with a ground. A fastener extends into the module. A retainer clip moves from an undeployed position to a deployed position by operation of the fastener. The fastener extends through a deployment ramp block. The deployment ramp block engages and guides the retainer clip from the undeployed position to the deployed position, by operation of the fastener. The mount system is configured to effect grounding of the ground to the product and to retain the module in position on the product.
Abstract:
A moisture detection and regulation system is disclosed for a vehicle interior component having a section of material with a moisture absorbent material structure. The system includes a sensing device configured to detect a level of moisture in the section of material. The system also includes a moisture removal element configured to dissipate moisture from the section of material. The system additionally includes an electronic controller fixed to the vehicle structure and in operative communication with each of the sensing device and the moisture removal element. The controller is configured to receive a signal from the sensing device indicative of the detected level of moisture in the section of material and activate the moisture removal element when the detected level of moisture is equal to or greater than a predetermined threshold level of moisture. A vehicle having such a moisture detection and regulation system is also disclosed.
Abstract:
An AM/FM radio system for a vehicle that is selectively impedance matched to the particular tuned frequency of interest so that noise received by other frequencies does not affect the received signal. The radio system includes an HMI allowing a user to select an AM or FM radio station and a radio tuner responsive to a signal from the HMI identifying the selected radio station. The tuner tunes the radio system to the radio station, and provides a signal to the HMI identifying the radio station. The HMI places a message on a vehicle bus identifying the radio station that the radio tuner is tuned to. An antenna controller receives the message from the vehicle bus to selectively control an impedance matrix to provide impedance matching for the selected radio station frequency. The antenna controller also selectively tunes antenna radiating elements to the particular tuned frequency.
