Abstract: Devices for and methods of synchronous beam refinement using a beam refinement reference signal (BRRS) are generally described. In one example embodiment, a UE receives BRRS information indicating switching of a Tx beam. The UE then uses this information to switch an associated Rx beam. In some embodiments, timing information is used to match the switching times. In some embodiments, DCI and CSI-RS operations are used to determine switching for the synchronous beam refinement.

Abstract: Technology for decreasing latency for contention based scheduling request (SR) is disclosed. A user equipment (UE) can randomly select a physical random access channel (PRACH) preamble index for a PRACH transmission. The UE can multiplex the PRACH preamble index together with a SR message containing a cell radio network temporary identifier (C-RNTI) and a buffer status report (BSR) for the PRACH transmission. The UE can process, for transmission, to an enhanced node B (eNB), the PRACH preamble index multiplexed with the SR message in a subframe #(n) of the PRACH transmission, wherein n is a subframe number.

Abstract: Embodiments of an Evolved Node-B (eNB), User Equipment (UE), and methods for flexible duplex communication are generally described herein. The eNB may transmit a downlink control information (DCI) block to the UE during a group of time-division duplex (TDD) sub-frames. The eNB may further receive an uplink control information (UCI) block from the UE during the group of TDD sub-frames. A first candidate flexible duplex format for the TDD sub-frames may include a downlink control portion and an uplink control portion. A second candidate flexible duplex format for the TDD sub-frames may include a downlink control portion and may exclude uplink control portions.

Abstract: Systems, apparatus, and methods to provide an indication of frequency resource unit (RU) allocation from a wireless access point (AP) to one or more station devices (STA) are disclosed. The AP may be configured to generate a protocol data unit including a high efficiency wireless (HEW) preamble that indicates the RU allocation corresponding to each of the STA. The indication of the RU allocation for each of the STA, as disclosed herein, may be encoded in fewer bits than providing a bitmap of the RU allocation for each of the STA. A predetermined RU pattern may be used to map RU (e.g., 26 tone units, 52 tone units, etc.) to a RU allocation index. This RU allocation pattern may be efficiently communicated to each of the STAs in the HEW preamble of the protocol data unit.

Abstract: Embodiments of an enhanced node B (eNB), user equipment (UE) and methods of signaling for proximity services and device-to-device (D2D) discovery in an LTE network are generally described herein. In some embodiments, the eNB may transmit signaling to indicate D2D discovery zone configuration to proximity service (ProSe) enabled UEs. The signaling may indicate time and frequency resources and a periodicity of a discovery zone and may indicate operational parameters for the discovery zone. The resources of the D2D discovery zone may be allocated for D2D discovery signal transmission by the ProSe-enabled UEs.

Abstract: A network device (e.g., an evolved Node B (eNB), user equipment (UE) or the like) can operate to enable the assigning of different listen-before-talk (LBT) priority classes or levels within a same DL transmission for scheduling UL transmissions, either in the same transmission opportunity as the UL grant or another transmission opportunity outside of the UL grant. Other data elements or traffic of the DL transmission can be multiplex with the UL grant, such as LBT parameters or a PUSCH, while each can be separately and selectively assigned different or equivalent LBT priority classes. The device can operate to process or generate communications on an unlicensed band or a licensed band in response to UL grants and indications provided via a DL transmission on a first transmission opportunity.

Abstract: Embodiments described herein relate generally to a user equipment (“UE”) that is to transmit and receive signals associated with synchronization. The UE may be receive signals associated with synchronization from a plurality of synchronization sources, such as an evolved Node B (“eNB”), a global navigation satellite system (“GNSS”), or another UE. The UE may synchronize to a signal received from a synchronization source based on a priority associated with that synchronization source and/or signal. However, if the UE does not receive any signals associated with synchronization, the UE may generate and transmit a signal that indicates a request for synchronization.
