摘要: An enclosure is arranged for housing electronics associated with a luminaire and includes a first member including a mounting interface arranged to couple the first member to the luminaire and a second member mechanically coupled to the first member. The mounting interface facilitates provisionally coupling the first member to the luminaire and securing the enclosure to the luminaire. A corresponding mounting apparatus for securing an enclosure to a luminaire includes a mounting member having an opening and configured to be secured to a surface of a luminaire and a neck portion extending from the enclosure and configured to pass through the opening. The neck portion includes a neck opening that is configured to allow wiring to be routed from the electronics to the luminaire. The neck portion and the mounting member may include respective complementary surfaces to provide a mounting interface for provisionally coupling the enclosure to the luminaire.

摘要: Liquid crystal substrates have alignment layers with complementary anti-parallel alignment angles to diminish performance degradation from non-uniformity, and improve performance and simplify manufacturing methods. Methods of forming vertically-aligned nematic liquid-crystal display cells with complementary angled alignment layers are described. A first alignment layer defines first-substrate pre-tilt angles between first-substrate normal and molecules of the liquid-crystal fluid located adjacent to the interior surface of the first substrate, and a second alignment layer defines second-substrate pre-tilt angles between second-substrate normal and molecules of the liquid-crystal fluid located adjacent to the interior surface of the second substrate. Average values of the first-substrate and second-substrate pre-tilt angles located along common axes that extend normal to the first and second substrates are made substantially uniform by the complementary pre-tilt angles of the first and second substrates.

摘要: Methods and corresponding systems for controlling a light fixture include a memory for storing data and software. A multi-tap capacitor has a plurality of tap capacitors integrated into a capacitor housing. A plurality of switches are each coupled to one of the plurality of tap capacitors for selectively coupling the tap capacitors together to produce a variable multi-tap capacitance. A processor is coupled to the memory and the switches to facilitate: detecting a trigger for changing a lumen level output by the light fixture; determining a new lumen level in response to the trigger; determining a capacitance value that corresponds to the new lumen level; and configuring the plurality of switches to produce the multi-tap capacitance that corresponds to the new lumen level. The processor can record data in the memory that represents times of lumen changes and switch settings, which data correlates to power consumption.

摘要: An archery target is manufactured by stacking a plurality of layers of foam with the bottom surface of an upper layer engaging the top surface of a lower layer in face-to-face engagement to form a stack having a top surface, a bottom surface and a plurality of side surfaces. The foam layers are compressed and the layers of foam are secured to each other by applying heat to the side surfaces such that a plurality of target faces of at least partially melted foam are formed. The layers of foam are further integrated to one another by applying a heated rod through the entire stack to form at least one hole extending through the layers. The archery target is capable of being used in a stand-alone arrangement having at least four target faces and could be used as an insert for a three-dimensionally shaped target shell.

摘要: There is provided a novel compound of the general formula I in which each of R8 to R10 is hydrogen, aryl, C1-6 alkyl, trialkylsilyl or acyl; R1 to R5 are individually selected from hydrogen, hydroxy, C1-6 alkoxy and acyloxy; R6 and R7 are H, C1-4 alkyl, trialkylsilyl or acyl; X is O or NR, and R is H or Me; in which any of the alkyl groups including alkyl groups in alkoxy, acyl and acyloxy groups may be substituted by aryl, C1-4 alkyl, C1-4 alkoxy, hydroxyl, trialkylsiloxy or acyloxy groups; with the proviso that R2 and R3 are not both OH when R4 is H or OH, R1 and R5 are both H, and X is O. The amide compounds (X is NR) are analogues of epigallocatechin gallate or epicatechin galate, with an amide bond in place of the natural ester bond, with resistance to hydrolysis by esterase enzymes. The ester compounds (X is O) have a different hydroxylation pattern on the B ring as compared to the natural products. The compounds may be used to modulate the resistance to β-lactam antibiotics of various infections, especially methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Pharmaceutical compositions containing the novel compounds and combinations of the novel compounds and β-lactam antibiotics are described.

摘要: A portable, self-contained incubation apparatus has a cell container in which a cell culture can grow. The cell container resides on a base along with other components that maintain the environmental conditions inside of the container within a desired range. The self-contained incubation apparatus is portable allowing the conditions within the cell container to be precisely controlled even as it is being moved from one location to another. Further, at least one transparent surface of the cell container enables observation of the cell culture. Thus, the culture can be observed while the environmental conditions within the container are being controlled by components of the incubation apparatus. Since the cells can be observed without breaking the air-tight seal of the container, observation of the cells can be performed as often as is desired without introducing contaminants to the culture or otherwise significantly affecting the growth environment within the container. Indeed, observation of the cells can be performed as often as is desired without introducing contaminants to the culture or otherwise significantly affecting the growth environment within the container.
