Abstract: In an example, an expected sky condition is calculated for a geographic location, a time of day, and a date based on a mathematical model. A predicted distribution of direct and interreflected solar radiation within the environment is calculated based on the expected sky condition. Measurement data from one or more photosensors is obtained that provides measurements of an initial distribution of direct and interreflected radiation within the environment, including radiation from solar and electrical lighting sources. A target distribution of direct and interreflected artificial electromagnetic radiation produced by electrical lighting is determined, based on the measurement data and the predicted distribution of direct and interreflected solar radiation, to achieve the target distribution of direct and interreflected radiation within the environment. Output parameters are set to one or more devices to modify the initial distribution to achieve the target distribution of direct and interreflected radiation within the environment, including diffusion characteristics of the materials between environments.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a light control system. The light control system comprising: a plurality of light sources each configured to emit light within a predetermined spectral range, each of the plurality of light sources being configured to illuminate a corresponding sub-portion of a space, a sensor configured to within the space, detect a location of a human or an animal; and a control engine configured to control the plurality of light sources based on the detected location of the human or the animal such that a subportion of the space in which the human or the animal is not present is exposed to the light within the predetermined spectral range at a predetermined threshold intensity. A method for exposing a sub-portion of a space with light within a predetermined spectral range at a predetermined threshold intensity is also provided.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for providing circadian-friendly LED light sources are disclosed. A light source is formed to include a first LED emission (e.g., one or more LEDs emitting a first spectrum) and a second LED emission (e.g., one or more LEDs emitting a second spectrum) wherein the first and second LED emissions are combined in a first ratio and in a second ratio such that while changing from the first ratio to the second ratio the relative circadian stimulation is varied while maintaining a color rendering index above 80.

Abstract: A modular coordinated lighting system comprising one or more wireless lighting devices that can communicate over a network and coordinate their operation to provide illumination to an area is provided. Wireless control present in one wireless lighting device can be used to propagate the wireless control of that wireless lighting device to an entire of group of lights in a lighting system. In this manner, a user can easily install wireless lighting devices that work in coordination to illuminate an area as if they are one lighting device. A networked wireless lighting device may also be configured through the user input method to operate different groups of wireless lighting modules such that lighting groups may be created. Multiple lighting groups allow a user to configure lighting provided by the modular coordinated lighting system based on their preference.

Abstract: A system and a method for automatically creating and operating a functional association of multiple devices is proposed. The system consists of two or more devices that each contain one or more sensors, logic processing circuitry and communication circuitry that is able to transmit messages on a free space optical or radio frequency communication channel The set of devices that constitute the members of a functional association is selected from a larger set of candidate devices. The selection process involves each device performing analysis of the historic sensor data received from all candidate devices against specific evaluation criteria. The evaluation criteria is based on a probabilistic model that predicts the effectiveness of a possible functional association in accomplishing a joint task. Devices whose historic data indicate that they have high degree of effectiveness of achieving a task if they operate in unison will become members of the same functional association. Subsequently, they will continually exchange data in real time in order to operate in unison. The transmission of historic data needed to form the functional association and subsequent operating data needed to synchronize operation is done on a decentralized and unsupervised basis. It does not require a network-based logical addressing scheme and it does not require any special wiring or the use of a distributed, localized or centralized control unit. Membership in a functional association is dynamic and automatically responds to the addition or removal of candidate devices.

Abstract: A safety lamp includes a light sensing unit, a first driving unit, a motion sensing unit, a second driving unit, a time setting unit, and a light-emitting unit. The first driving unit outputs a low-current power and the second driving unit outputs a high-current power. The motion sensing unit senses a movement of an object and output a sensing signal. The time setting unit counts the number of lighting times of the light-emitting unit. The light-emitting unit is driven by the low-current power when the light sensing unit is turned on; the light-emitting unit is driven by the low-current power and the high-current power when the motion sensing unit is turned on; when the number of lighting times is completed, the time setting unit disconnects the high-current power outputted from the second driving unit to the light emitting unit.
