摘要: A display optical apparatus is provided with: a polarizing plate transmitting illuminating light having a predetermined polarization direction; a reflective liquid crystal display device reflecting the illuminating light transmitted by the polarizing plate as projected light of a polarization condition that differs according to pixel information for each pixel; and a phase plate changing the polarization conditions of the illuminating light and the projected light and directing the illuminating light and the projected light to the polarizing plate. The phase plate is disposed between the reflective liquid crystal display device and the polarizing plate. The black level of the projected light is adjusted by rotating the principal axis direction of the phase plate.

摘要: Before hexafluoropropene oxide (HFPO) is polymerized in a polymerization initiator solution of a polymerization initiator of the formula: CSOCF.sub.2 --Rf--CF.sub.2 OCs wherein Rf is a perfluoroalkylene group which may have an ether bond in an aprotic polar solvent, the initiator solution is treated by adding a perfluoroolefin thereto at a sufficient temperature for the removal of protonic substances, cesium fluoride and hydrogen fluoride. This simple treatment restrains chain transfer reaction, and the process is successful in producing a difunctional HFPO polymer having a high degree of polymerization while suppressing formation of a monofunctional HFPO polymer.

摘要: A chain organopolysiloxane is obtained by polymerizing a fluorine-containing cyclotrisiloxane of the general formula: ##STR1## (wherein R.sup.1 is a monovalent hydrocarbon group, and Rf is a perfluoroalkyl group or perfluoroalkyl ether group)in the presence of a lithium silanolate catalyst, silylating the resulting polymerization product, and treating the silylated product at a temperature of not lower than 100.degree. C. under a reduced pressure of not higher than 10.sup.-1 mmHg to remove volatile components therefrom. The organopolysiloxane is essentially free of volatile low-molecular siloxanes. Therefore, the chain organopolysiloxane can be used without the problems which might arise from the volatile low-molecular siloxanes, such as evaporation of low-molecular siloxanes from a cured rubber product with the result of electrical-contact troubles.

摘要: A malfunction detecting apparatus for an evaporated fuel purge system includes a first control valve for controlling a flow of fuel vapor in a purge passage between a canister and an intake passage, a second control valve for controlling a flow of air from the atmosphere to the canister via an air inlet opening of the canister, a first control part for turning OFF the second control valve and for turning ON the first control valve during a first time period, so as to subject the purge passage, the canister, and a vapor passage to a negative pressure of the intake passage during the first time period, and a first discriminator for detecting whether or not a malfunction has occurred in the system, in accordance with a pressure change rate derived from pressures of the system sensed at a start of the first time period and at an end thereof. The apparatus further includes a second control part for detecting whether or not a pressure of the system reaches a prescribed negative pressure after it is detected that no malfunction has occurred in the system, and for turning OFF the first and second control valves during a second time period after the prescribed negative pressure is reached, and a second discriminator for detecting whether or not a malfunction has occurred in the system, in accordance with a pressure change rate derived from pressures of the system sensed at a start of the second time period and at an end thereof.
