Abstract: An image decoding method includes: acquiring, from a bitstream, luma weight L0 flag information indicating whether there is an L0 prediction-related weight factor and luma weight L1 flag information indicating whether there is an L1 prediction-related weight factor; determining to apply decoder-side motion vector refinement (DMVR) to an L0 motion vector and L1 motion vector for a current block, when the luma weight L0 flag information and the luma weight L1 flag information are both zero; when it has been determined to apply DMVR, deriving a refined L0 motion vector and a refined L1 motion vector by applying the DMVR to the current block; deriving prediction samples for the current block on the basis of L0 prediction using the refined L0 motion vector and L1 prediction using the refined L1 motion vector; and generating reconstruction samples for the current block on the basis of the prediction samples.

Abstract: A decoding method performed by a decoding device according to the present document comprises the steps of: determining a prediction mode of a current block on the basis of information about a prediction mode obtained from a bitstream; constructing a merge candidate list on the basis of the prediction mode; deriving motion information of the current block on the basis of the merge candidate list; and generating prediction samples of the current block on the basis of the motion information, wherein the bitstream includes information about a combined inter-picture merge and intra-picture prediction (CIIP) available flag indicating whether the CLIP is available, and the determination step may include a step of acquiring a regular merge flag from the bitstream on the basis of the CIIP available flag.

Specifically, a method of decoding an image based on an inter prediction mode includes deriving a motion vector of an available spatial neighboring block around a current block; deriving a collocated block of the current block based on the motion vector of the spatial neighboring block; deriving a motion vector in a sub-block unit in the current block based on a motion vector of the collocated block; and generating a prediction block of the current block using the motion vector derived in the sub-block unit, wherein the collocated block may be specified by the motion vector of the spatial neighboring block in one pre-defined reference picture.
