Abstract:
A user equipment includes circuitry which selects a random access preamble sequence, and a transmitter which transmits the random access preamble sequence to a base station in a frequency bandwidth of an unlicensed band, and performs at least one of a first operation and a second operation. In the first operation, the circuitry selects a first sequence as the random access preamble sequence, the first sequence having a length longer than a length of a random preamble sequence used for a licensed band, and the transmitter transmits the first sequence in the frequency bandwidth of the unlicensed band. In the second operation, the circuitry selects a second sequence as the random access preamble sequence, the second sequence having a length equal to the length of a random preamble sequence used for the licensed band, and the transmitter transmits the second sequence with repetitions in the frequency bandwidth of the unlicensed band.

The present disclosure relates to a method for operating a Discontinuous Reception, DRX, function at a user equipment. The UE is configured with at least one licensed cell and at least one unlicensed cell and operates the DRX function. The UE receives, from a radio base station, a DRX-active instruction to be in DRX Active Time at least on the unlicensed cell until receiving the next downlink control information related to a downlink data transmission to be received via the unlicensed cell. Correspondingly, in response to the received DRX-active instruction, the UE is in DRX Active Time at least on the unlicensed cell, comprising continuously monitoring a downlink control channel for downlink control information.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for configuring subframes for uplink/downlink communication for a mobile station (UE) not supporting dual uplink but located in a communication system supporting dual connectivity. The UE is connected simultaneously to two base stations via a respective communication link. An uplink transmission pattern is determined, defining whether subframes are usable for uplink communication to the first or second base station or for switching the uplink communication between the two communication links. Based on the determined uplink transmission pattern, and further based on configuration of the mobile station for supporting dual reception or not, a downlink reception is derived for downlink communication between the two base stations and the mobile station, the downlink reception pattern defining whether the subframes are usable for downlink communication from the first or second base station or for switching the downlink communication between the two communication links.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a method for paging coverage extension UEs in a cell controlled by a radio base station. At least one CE-specific paging possibility is defined for paging CE-UEs. The CE-UEs in the cell regularly monitor the at least one CE-specific paging possibility. When the radio base station determines to page all the user equipments in the cell, it pages the CE user equipments in the cell at the CE-specific paging possibility, using a coverage extension technique. The disclosure also relates to a method for paging a CE-UE, which performs radio measurements by a CE-capable user equipment to determine whether coverage extension is necessary. The radio base station is informed about whether the CE-capable user equipment needs coverage extension and then pages the CE-UEs applying or not applying a CE technique depending on whether coverage extension is necessary.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to transmitting data on a shared communication channel in a communication system supporting multiple hybrid automatic repeat request processes and configurable to apply a bundling of transmission time intervals. The data transmitting including mapping of TTIs of the HARQ processes cyclically onto subframes. In order to efficiently support dynamic bundle scheduling, when a grant is received during a bundle transmission, this grant becomes a shifting grant, according to which the bundle is transmitted and according to the location of which the timing of the grant reception and the data transmission is adapted. The transmission of the shifted bundle is performed in accordance with the state of its retransmission process, i.e. the bundle is either initially transmitted or retransmitted.
Abstract:
The invention relates to methods for reporting on downlink timings by a mobile terminal in a mobile communication system. In order to allow for an aggregation access point to obtain information on propagation delay differences of downlink transmissions on aggregated serving cells, the invention suggests the mobile terminal to report timing information based on reception time difference information for a the target/reference cell. The mobile terminal performs measurements relating to transmission and/or reception time differences on the target/reference cell, and reports same to the eNodeB. The eNodeB compares the measurement result to a predefined maximum propagation delay time difference. Alternatively, the mobile terminal performs the measurements, compares same to the predefined maximum propagation delay time difference and then report the comparison result to the eNodeB.
Abstract:
An invention relates to methods for transmitting a buffer status report (BSR) in a mobile communication system, more particularly to the definition of rules for triggering, generating and transmitting BSRs. The invention also relates to a data transmission method utilizing new rules to decide data of which radio bearers is transmitted within a given transmission time interval. Moreover, the invention relates to scheduling method for radio resources that is taking into account additional scheduling-relevant information from the buffer status reporting and/or data transmission method. To avoid unnecessary grants from the network and to suggest an advanced handling of data transmissions the invention suggests a buffer status reporting and data transmission schemes that take into account the scheduling mode of data of radio bearers pending for transmission to decide whether to report on it in a buffer status report, respectively, whether to multiplex the data to a transport block for transmission.

Abstract:
The invention relates to methods for informing an eNodeB on the transmit power status of a user equipment in a mobile communication system using component carrier (CC) aggregation. Furthermore, the invention is also related to the implementation of these methods by hardware and their implementation in software. The invention proposes procedures that allow the eNodeB to recognize the power usage status of a UE in a communication system using carrier aggregation. The UE indicates to the eNodeB, when the UE is close to using its total maximum UE transmit power or when it has exceeded same. This is achieved by the UE including indicator(s) and/or new MAC CEs to one or more protocol data units transmitted on respective component carriers within a single sub-frame that is providing the eNodeB with power status information. The MAC CEs may report a per-UE power headroom. Alternatively, the MAC CEs may report per-CC power headrooms and/or power reductions applied to the respective uplink CCs.
