    Abstract: Wireless communication techniques that include multi-beam techniques for small data transfer (SDT) over preconfigured uplink resources (PURs) are discussed. A UE may receive an indication of at least one PUR allocated for uplink communication when the UE does not have a RRC connection with a base station. The at least one PUR may include one or more distinct PUR occasions. The UE may also receive an indication of one or more distinct SSBs associated with the one or more distinct PUR occasions. Each PUR occasion of the one or more distinct PUR occasions may be associated with only one SSB of the one or more distinct SSBs. The UE may also transmit information to the base station during a PUR occasion associated with an SSB that is associated with a RSRP that is greater than a threshold. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. For instance, a user equipment (UE) may receive a configuration of a set of search space sets for a downlink control channel. The UE may determine a quantity of downlink control channel units (e.g., downlink control channel elements, downlink control channel candidates) for monitoring over the set of search space sets, where downlink control channel units that overlap may be counted separately. For instance, the downlink control channel units may overlap in time and frequency and/or may have a same associated payload size and associated set of control channel elements. The UE may monitor the downlink control channel according to a subset of the set of search space sets, where the subset excludes one or more of the set of search space sets based on the quantity of downlink control channel units satisfying a threshold.

In some systems, a user equipment (UE) may determine to change a first slot format used when operating in a half-duplex mode based on a traffic pattern or a channel quality, or both, and may transmit a request to change the slot format to a base station. The request may include information relating to a slot format based on the traffic pattern or the channel quality, or both, such as an explicit indication of a slot format or a request for a different resource distribution between uplink symbols, downlink symbols, or flexible symbols, or any combination thereof. The base station may receive the request to change the slot format and may transmit an indication of a second slot format to the UE based on the request. The base station and the UE may communicate using the second slot format.

    Abstract: In an aspect, a user equipment (UE) determines a resource configuration and a transmit power for a physical random access channel (PRACH) preamble sequence and/or a configuration and a transmit power for a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) resource unit (PRU) based on positioning information of the UE relative to the base station, the speed of the UE relative to the base station, and/or a radio resource control (RRC) state of the UE, transmits, to the base station, a message comprising the PRACH preamble sequence on a PRACH occasion and a payload on a PRU occasion based on the determined resource configuration and transmit power for the PRACH preamble sequence and/or the determined resource configuration and transmit power for the PRU, and receives, from the base station, a second message comprising information on a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) and a payload on a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH).

    Abstract: User equipments (UEs) with reduced capabilities may need a relaxed processing timeline relative to standard UEs. The relaxed processing timeline may provide UEs with reduced capabilities an appropriate amount of time (e.g., during a random access procedure) to decode messages from a base station (BS) and/or to prepare uplink messages. Aspects of the disclosure relate to a UE configured to transmit a message to a serving BS, the message including a request for timeline relaxation for transmission of a subsequent message, the message and the subsequent message being associated with a random access procedure. The UE may receive a response message associated with the random access procedure and indicating one or more timing offsets corresponding to the timeline relaxation. The UE may transmit the subsequent message to the serving BS based on the one or more timing offsets indicated by the serving BS. The subsequent message acknowledges the response message.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In a random access (RACH) procedure, a user equipment (UE) may transmit a first RACH message (e.g., RACH Message A (MsgA)) to a base station, which may include an indication of a modulation order, a maximum number of repetitions for RACH Message B (MsgB) data, or both. The base station may multiplex random access responses (RARs) for UEs into second RACH messages (e.g., RACH MsgBs) based on the indication(s) and may transmit these RACH MsgBs. The UE may receive and decode a downlink control information (DCI) portion of a RACH MsgB but may determine not to decode the data portion of the RACH MsgB if an indication in the DCI of the modulation order, the threshold number of repetitions, or both does not match the value reported by the UE. Otherwise, the UE may decode the full RACH MsgB.
