    摘要: Apparatus and methods are provided for computing soft information at a receiver having a plurality of receive antennas. The receiver may be a mobile station or a base station, and can receive a signal vector that includes an intended signal from a first source as well as interfering signals from one or more other, interfering sources. The receiver can determine modulation information, such as the modulation scheme, used by each of the interfering sources. The mobile station can also estimate channel information, such as channel gain information, associated with each interfering source. Using the modulation and channel information, the receiver can compute soft information, such as a log-likelihood ratio. In some embodiments, the receiver can adaptively determine which interference sources and which receive antennas to use when computing the soft information.

    摘要: Systems and methods are provided for determining a channel quality indicator (CQI) in a transmission system associated with a diversity transmission scheme. A plurality of independent diversity branches are identified in the diversity transmission scheme. Each one of the independent diversity branches may correspond to a different portion of the effective channel and may include any suitable combination of frequency, time, and/or spatial components of the effective channel or of any wired or wireless paths or combinations of the same. An effective Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) value is computed for each one of the identified independent diversity branches. The computed effective SNR values are combined for the identified independent diversity branches to generate a CQI value.

A globally optimal ordering is found that maximizes the performance objective over the multiple decoding orderings.

    摘要: Systems and methods are provided for channel estimation using linear phase estimation. These systems and methods enable improved channel estimation by estimating a linear channel phase between received pilot subcarrier signals. The estimated linear phase can then be removed from the received pilot subcarrier signals. After the estimated linear phase is removed from the received pilot subcarrier signals, a channel response can be estimated. A final estimated channel response can be generated by multiplying the results of the linear channel estimation by the estimated linear phase.

    摘要: Systems and methods are provided for decoding a signal vector in a transmit diversity scheme for varying channels. Information obtained in more than one symbol period are treated as a single received vector, and each of the received signal vectors may be processed to reduce the effects of varying channel characteristics. The received signal vectors may be combined by addition and decoded using a maximum-likelihood decoder. In some embodiments, the received signal vectors are processed separately and then combined. In other embodiments, the received signal vectors are combined and then processed. In some embodiments, zero-forced linear equalization techniques are used to processed the received signals. In some embodiments the signal vectors and varying channel response matrices are broken down to equivalent forms in order to simplify the processing.

    摘要: Methods and apparatus are provided for soft-decision maximum likelihood demodulation to decode a data vector transmitted in a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications channel. Soft-decision demodulators are disclosed that implement sphere decoding to reduce complexity of demodulation while preserving optimal performance. Candidate signal values associated with the transmitted data vector may be obtained and partitioned into signal bit groups. A sphere search may be performed over the candidate signal values within a search radius value to determine a smallest distance metric for each signal bit group. The search radius value may be updated based on a current smallest distance metric for each signal bit group. A log-likelihood ratio (LLR) may be computed from the determined smallest distance metrics for each signal bit group using a soft-decision demodulator.
