Abstract:
A method of increasing the refractive index in a photosensitive glass is disclosed so as to induce an refractive index change of at least 10−5 within a region of the glass. The method includes the step of providing a hydrogen or deuterium loaded doped glass material wherein a dopant within the glass is photosensitive to infrared radiation in the presence of hydrogen or deuterium. The hydrogen or deuterium loaded doped glass is subsequently irradiated with femtosecond pulses of infrared light having an intensity of at least 109 W/cm2 and less than 5×1013 W/cm2.

Abstract:
This vintage dated wine soap is a hand made cleansing agent intended for use by humans and on certain animals. It combines vintage dated wine with various oils and fragrances in a cold blending process that preserves the characteristics of the wine, including the color, aromas and astringency. The glycerin which occurs naturally during production is left in the soap and not removed, as in most commercial soaps. It is an accepted fact in the wine industry that each vintage (harvest year) produces different flavors, colors and/or aromas in the grapes and therefore, in the wine from that vintage. Our ingredients and cold blending production process allows the character of the vintages and the wine to be reflected in the soap. I do not know of any other vintage dated wine soap.
Abstract:
A seat belt improvement providing seat belt buckling assistance and automatic release of the seat belt. The seat belt assembly includes an electromagnet located in the seat belt buckle that aligns and draws the seat belt tongue into the seat belt buckle when the seat belt tongue is in close proximity to the seat belt buckle. A solenoid located in the seat belt buckle is used to release the seat belt tongue from the buckle. When the vehicle transmission is in the “park” position, the ignition is turned off, and the key is removed, the solenoid is energized to release the seat belt tongue. Further, a switch may be conveniently located in the vehicle such as on the seat belt buckle, near the window, on the door, or the like to activate the solenoid and release the seat belt assembly without having to turn off the vehicle ignition.
Abstract:
A method for assessing CPR performed during at least one resuscitation event includes obtaining a data set during each of the at least one resuscitation events, each data set including data characterizing the performance of chest compressions or ventilations, or both, on the patient during the at least one resuscitation event; processing the data set to determine a value of at least one parameter of the performance; and displaying a graphical representation of the at least one parameter. A graphical representation of a desired value or range of values of the at least one parameter may be displayed in a position for visual comparison with the determined value. A method for presenting information on a sequence of events during a resuscitation event includes: obtaining data on the sequence and timing of chest compression and lung ventilations from a defibrillator; and displaying symbols for chest compressions and lung ventilations in a linear sequence corresponding to the order in which the compressions and ventilations occurred, the linear distance between successive symbols being proportional to the temporal distance between the corresponding actions.
Abstract:
A system is disclosed wherein patient data, such as an electrocardiogram (“ECG”) signal or a chest impedance measurement signal, collected by a defibrillator device during a resuscitation event is analyzed and processed by a computing device to provide an assessment of CPR administered during the event. The CPR assessment results in one or more CPR figures of merit that relate to temporal characteristics of the CPR relative to the duration of the event. In one embodiment, the CPR figure of merit represents a percentage of the event period during which chest compressions were administered to the patient.
Abstract:
A method, system and program product for migrating an integrated circuit (IC) design from a source technology without radical design restrictions (RDR) to a target technology with RDR, are disclosed. Also, a method, system and program product for migrating an integrated circuit design from a source technology without RDR to a target technology with RDR in which space may be reserved for late insertion of a feature and in which migration first occurs in a primary compaction direction having less tolerant ground rules.
Abstract:
Methods, systems and program products are disclosed for selectively scaling an integrated circuit (IC) design: by layer, by unit, or by ground rule, or a combination of these. The selective scaling technique can be applied in a feedback loop with the manufacturing system with process and yield feedback, during the life of a design, to increase yield in early processes in such a way that hierarchy is preserved. The invention removes the need to involve designers in improving yield where new technologies such as maskless fabrication are implemented.
Abstract:
A system for sensing the load carried in a structural member by attaching a load cell to a neutral axis of bending. Small deflections along an arc of bending create a desirable signal level via mechanical amplification. A load sensor is adapted for mounting on an axle that deviates from a neutral axis when under a load. The load sensor comprises a reaction portion adapted for mounting on the axle and an active portion adapted for mounting to at least two points along the axle. The active portion has an amplifier arm and at least one sensor element. The sensor element is attached at a first end to the reaction portion and the sensor is attached at its second end to the amplifier arm. At least one strain gauge is mounted on the sensor element. At least one flexion web is attached to the reaction portion and to the active portion. When a load is put on the axle, flexion of the axle moves the active portion relative to the neutral axis of the axle, the active portion moves the amplifier arm, causing a curve to be formed in the sensor element, the curve being of sufficient magnitude to be calibrated by the at least one strain gauge.
Abstract:
Systems and techniques for queuing commands in a multi-banked memory is disclosed. The systems and techniques include storing and retrieving data from a memory over a bus. The memory may include a plurality of memory banks. In at least one embodiment of a system or technique to queue commands, a first bus operation may be initiated to an unopened page in a first one of the memory banks in response to a first command from a first memory queue, and a second bus operation may be performed to an opened page in a second one of the memory banks in response to a second command from a second memory queue while the unopened page in the first one of the memory banks is being opened.
Abstract:
One method for making a laminate material comprising a first surface layer comprising resorcinol arylate polyester chain members and a second surface layer suitable for bonding to a substrate, comprises co-extruding a polymeric first surface layer material and a polymeric second surface layer material through a die and into the first nip of a calender roll stack comprising a first surface roll and a second surface roll that define the first nip, to form the laminate material. A nip load in the first nip of greater than or equal to about 400 N/cm can be applied to the laminate, and the laminate material can be collected from the roll stack. The first roll and the second roll can each have a surface smoothness of less than or equal to about 5 micrometers and temperatures of about 40° C. to about 150° C.
