The planetary gear sets include first, second and third members. The plurality of interconnecting members each continuously interconnect one of the first, second and third members of the planetary gear sets with another one of the first, second and third members of the planetary gear sets, and a stationary member. The torque transmitting mechanisms are selectively engageable in combinations of at least two to establish at least eight forward speed ratios and at least one reverse speed ratio between the input member and the output member.

摘要： A device operable in a transmission for substantially preventing vehicular rollback on an incline includes a shaft, a gear, a one-way clutch, and a pawl member. The gear is selectively connected for common rotation with the shaft. The gear is rotatable in a first rotary direction and a second rotary direction. The one-way clutch has an inner race and an outer race, where the inner race is connected to the gear and the outer race has an outer surface having a plurality of engaging teeth. The pawl member has a first end and a second end, where the first end is pivotly mounted to a transmission housing. The second end of the pawl has a first angled portion configured to releasably engage at least one of the plurality of engaging teeth of the outer race as the outer race rotates in the second rotary direction.

Three of the planetary gear sets are simple and one planetary gear set is compound. Each of the plurality of planetary gear sets has first, second and third members: a sun gear, a ring gear and a planet carrier having a plurality of planet gears rotatably disposed thereon. Three of the torque transmitting devices are clutches and two of the devices are brakes. Eight embodiments of the transmission having different arrangements of the planetary gear sets, clutches and brakes are disclosed.
