Abstract:
System, method and computer program product for combined scheduling of two different slab sequences by a rational technique. A two-dimensional grid graph having a direct slab sequence as a first dimension and an inventory slab sequence as a second dimension is prepared by processing of a computer as a data structure represented on a memory or a hard disk drive of the computer. A processing program of the computer generates two child nodes corresponding to a direct slab and an inventory slab, in each node of the two-dimensional graph according to a predetermined algorithm. By defining an appropriate weighting function, the processing program of the computer weights edges between nodes in the two-dimensional grid graph. After forming the weighted graph on a storage device of the computer such as the memory or the hard disk drive, the processing program of the computer calculates a path from a start point to an end point as a shortest path search problem.

Abstract:
Disclosed is a continuous casting in which an electromagnetic stirrer is installed upstream, in the casting direction, of the reduction rolling position of a slab, and in which a slab with a liquid core is reduced in thickness, wherein by imparting a collision flow forming-type stirring and a uni-directional alternating flow forming-type stirring, molten steel with concentrated segregation elements is stirred and diffused in a width-wise direction of slab, whereby a slab stabilized in center segregation qualities can be produced over long-time casting operation. Since the stirring flowing pattern is selectively imparted by means of the same electromagnetic stirrer, it is effective to decrease facility and equipment costs, improve maintainability, and extensively cope with various casting conditions. The continuous casting method stably ensures excellent center segregation qualities over a long time in casting of high-strength steel with high crack susceptibility or steel grade for extremely thick plate product.
Abstract:
A method for adjusting a roll segment of a strand guide of a slab-casting installation against a strand, wherein the roll segment has an upper and a lower roll support that each have an adjusting element for adjusting the two roll supports relative to each other. The method includes individual control of the individual adjusting elements, wherein the actual profile of the strand, including the heights of the right and left lateral edges of the strand, is detected and compared with a set profile that includes a predetermined set height, which is the same for the right and left lateral edges, and the individual adjusting elements of the roll segment are individually controlled based on the control deviation that results from the comparison so that the actual profile is adapted to the set profile, including equalization of the heights of the right and left lateral edges of the strand.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a metal strip includes casting a slab (3) or preliminary strip (3′) in a casting machine (2) and subsequently rolling the cast slab (3) or preliminary strip (3′) in at least one rolling train (4, 5) in a first operating mode with the at least one rolling train being connected with the casting machine for continuously manufacturing the metal strip, and in a second operating mode removing the cast slab (3) or preliminary strip (3′) from the main transport line (6) with a shuttle system arranged between the casting machine (2) and the at least one rolling train (4, 5), storing the removed slab (3) or preliminary strip (3′), and subsequently transporting the removed slab (3) or preliminary strip back into the main transport line, with the removed slab (3) or preliminary strip (3′) being heated to a desired temperature or maintained at a desired temperature prior to the transport back into the main transport line (6) for discontinuously manufacturing the metal strip.
Abstract:
A process and an ultracompact plant for the endless production of hot rolled steel strip comprising an ingot mold (15) that produces a very thin slab, having narrow sides with thickness in the range between 40 and 55 mm and a central swelling, at a speed in the range between 4 and 16 m/min. Such a slab, which displays a core in which the steel is still liquid, is passed through a vertical pre-rolling device (16) that reduces the thickness of the slab and flattens it. The solidified slab may thus be subjected to a first mild rolling by a conveyor (17) and, by forming a free curve, takes a horizontal position where it is subjected to a first surface descaling, a first rolling, a heating in an inductor (23), a second surface descaling and a series of reductions in a rolling mill (30) formed by at least two stands, by maintaining its temperature along the mill above the recrystallization point Ar3. Downstream of the rolling mill (30) there are provided a roller runway with cooling showers, a flying shear (33) for cutting to length the strip produced, pinch rolls and at least two spinning wheels (34) for the formation of coils of the hot rolled strip.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for producing hot-rolled products in a combined casting-rolling installation. A method and a combined casting-rolling installation with which an uninterrupted continuous casting process can be maintained not only when there is a planned interruption to production but also when there is an unplanned interruption to production, occurring for example in a heating zone, a finishing mill train, a cooling zone or a storage device. This method steps are carried out to bridge an interruption in production in the part of the installation that is downstream of the cutting-up and delivering device (6): a) cutting off a strand portion (21) of the continuously produced preliminary material (3) by means of a first shears (9); b) raising the tail part of the strand portion (21) from the roller table (4) by means of a raising device (11); c) breaking up the preliminary material (3) passing the first shears (9) into pieces of scrap (19) by means of the first shears (9)into pieces of scrap (19) by means of the first shears (9), delivering the pieces of scrap (19) and removing the strand portion (21) unit the operational readiness of the combined casting-rolling installation is restored.
