    摘要: Aromatic amines are produced from aromatic hydrocarbons by a) reacting the aromatic hydrocarbon(s) with a mixture of nitric acid and sulfuric acid to generate a two-phase reaction mixture, b) separating the reaction mixture into an aqueous acid phase and an organic phase containing the nitroaromatic compounds c) washing the organic phase to purify the nitroaromatic compound(s), d) hydrogenating the nitroaromatic compound(s) in the presence of a catalyst to produce the aromatic amine(s) and water of reaction, and e) separating the water of reaction formed in step d) from the aromatic amine(s), in which the water of reaction separated in step e) is used to wash the organic phase containing the nitroaromatic compounds in step c).

    摘要: A process for producing geranylgeraniol is provided, which comprising the steps of subjecting a mixture of at least one ester derivative wherein one or more carbon-carbon double bonds in the molecule are in cis form represented by the general formula (1): ##STR1## wherein R represents an aromatic group which can be substituted with at least one substituent, or a higher aliphatic group having from 7 to 25 carbon atoms, and wavy lines, respectively, represent a state where each carbon-carbon double bond can be present in cis or trans form, and an ester derivative of the general formula (2): ##STR2## wherein R is as defined above, to crystallization to obtain the ester derivative of the formula (2) selectively, and hydrolyzing the thus obtained ester derivative.

    摘要: Aromatic nitration reactions and, more specifically, a process for nitrating toluene to dinitrotoluene. The process involves a liquid phase nitration reaction of anhydrous nitric acid and toluene in a molar ratio of between about 5:1 and about 9:1 of nitric acid to toluene in a reactor at a reaction temperature of between about 40.degree. C. and about 70.degree. C., in the absence of sulfuric acid and in the absence of any dipolar organic solvent, to produce a mixture containing dinitrotoluene, and isolating said dinitrotoluene by contacting said mixture with a phase separating effective amount of an alkali or alkaine earth metal nitrate salt to cause phase separation of said dinitrotoluene.
