摘要： An enclosure for a pressure relief device, particularly pressure relief devices mounted on electrical equipment housings, is pre-assembled together with the pressure relief device. The enclosure, which provides for temporarily confining and directing fluids discharged from the pressure relief device, is pre-assembled leaving a clearance space so that the pressure relief device can be mounted on the housing with the enclosure system in place. A peripheral shield with an opening for attaching the enclosure to a discharge pipe or other duct work remains rotatable until deliberately secured in place. Components can be shared between the enclosure and the pressure relief device to provide a more efficient and cost effective design.

摘要： A safety relief valve provides for the equalization of backpressure across a valve spindle by providing for flow of fluid between equal sized upper and lower surfaces of the spindle in order to render the valve set point independent of backpressure, such that opening characteristics are controlled solely by the setting of the valve control spring. A seal preferably formed of TEFLON® is provided to prevent the escape of fluid from the valve body, which would otherwise adversely affect the pressure balance between the upper and lower surfaces.

摘要： A pressure relief device having a housing including an inlet, an outlet, and an inner wall defining a bore connecting the inlet and the outlet. The inlet is in communication with a fluid under pressure in a pressure vessel. The bore includes an inlet portion extending from the inlet toward the outlet, and an outlet portion extending from the outlet toward the inlet. The bore also includes a tapered portion connecting the inlet portion and the outlet portion. The inlet portion has a diameter which is less than the outlet portion's diameter. A plug is located in the bore and movable from a closed position, in which flow of fluid through the bore is blocked, to an open position, in which flow of the fluid through the bore is permitted in response to a pressure differential between the inlet and the outlet.

The valve disc includes a convex end portion to reduce turbulence during flow into the valve to permit improved seating of the valve disc and an external annular recess defining an annular lip on the valve disc including a seat having a frustoconical seat surface, the lip being flexible to improve the disc seat contact with the seat around the valve inlet to increase the seat tightness of the valve.

摘要： A relief valve that is reseatable to seal against high vacuum characterized by, in addition to the usual body and cap with conventional passageways, internal chamber, biasing means, and biasing adjustment means for effecting the relief valve action therewithin, a first resilient seat that is disposed circumferentially about a first passageway through the body and being designed to block flow in both directions when engaged by a seal surface; a first seat retainer removably holding the resilient seat in place and having a first annular seal surface; an upper seat reciprocally disposed within the internal chamber and having a seal surface at its lower end disposed adjacent the first resilient seat for sealing engagement therewith, the upper seat having a second annular seal surface disposed opposite the first annular seal surface; and a vacuum supplemental seal means for supplemental sealing against high vacuum. The vacuum supplemental seal means is disposed intermediate the first and second annular seal surfaces so as to sealingly engage them and block flow toward the first passageway when the upper seat has its seal surface sealingly engaging the first resilient seat. Thus, the relief valve can be employed as a safety release on a pressurized vessel, yet allow the vessel to be operated under high vacuum with a leak rate of only about 2 X 10 10 cubic centimeters per second.
