    摘要: A secondary seal assembly is used with a process instrument including a probe assembly and an electric housing assembly. The probe assembly includes an adaptor receivable in an opening of a process vessel, a probe extending through the adaptor into the process vessel, and a primary seal between the probe and the adaptor. A probe terminal provides an electrical connection between the probe and the electric housing assembly. The secondary seal comprises an elongate extension housing adapted to be mechanically connected at one end to the adaptor and at another end to the electric housing assembly. A shaft insert is received in the extension housing having a terminal at each of opposite ends, a first terminal for providing an electrical connection to the electric housing assembly and a second terminal for providing an electrical connection to the probe terminal. A seal between the shaft insert and the extension housing provides a secondary seal to the process vessel.

    摘要: In order to allow a wide range of instruments to be assembled from standard modules, there is provided a range of different diameter housings with their glasses spun in and sealed by an O-ring. A housing can be trimmed to length as required. Different types of panel mountings can be fixed over the front rim of the housing. One of a range of standard movements is mounted between plates and matched to the housing diameter and retained therein by releasable catches. The catches may be turnbuttons cooperating with pegs projecting inside the housing. Alternatively, leaf spring catches slidable radially outwardly on the plate can engage in an annular groove inside the housing and be locked in position by clamp screws. The rear end of the housing is plugged by an O-ring sealed base which carries either a terminal part/connector structure only or also a range scaling circuit enabling the same movement to handle different input signal ranges. The pointer on an offset arm sweeps over a scale which can be hub lit. For small instruments where cylindrical space available radially inside the arm is small, bulbs are mounted in a radially offset position (where the needle does not sweep) of a transparent body to direct light radially inwardly to a 45.degree. surface where internal reflection directs the light axially along a cylindrical lens part from which the light diffuses radially over the scale. Alternatively, the 45.degree. surface can be omitted by locating the bulbs close to the axis in a recess through which the bulbs can be withdrawn in the radial direction.

    摘要: A static junction seal assembly for electrically insulating a high potential between the interior and the exterior of a housing. The housing has first and second halves, having a first seal surface and a second seal surface, respectively. The seal surfaces are covered with a dielectric grease and are juxtaposed with a non-conductive gasket therebetween. The space between the seal surfaces increases from a central location to an edge location and the gasket adjacent the central location has a maximum thickness which decreases continuously from the central location to a gasket edge location when the gasket and seal surfaces are juxtaposed in an uncompressed state. The relative configuration of the first and second seal surfaces and the gasket are thus selected so that as the gasket is progressively compressed between the seal surfaces, a gasket bulge will initially form at the central location and thereafter move from the central location to the edge location. The movement of the gasket bulge displaces and expels the grease and any entrapped air along the seal surface to form a grease filled, bubble free, insulating seal. For sealing an access port through the housing, the port is provided with sides sloped inwardly toward the center of the port at a first angle. A plug having inwardly sloped sides at a second smaller angle is inserted in the port and is compressed thereby progressively forming a plug bulge which moves progressively upward expelling grease and all entrapped air.

    摘要: A container for a pressure gauge movement which employs a viewing window. The container includes a flange along the edge adjacent to the window which receives the window and a resilient window sealing gasket. A resilient collar is placed around the edge of the window which sandwiches the gasket between the window and flange as it retracts. The collar includes a split and two non-parallel surfaces. The split allows the collar to be expanded when placed around the flange and window. The surfaces define a groove to receive the edges and press the flange and window together around the gasket as the collar retracts. A ring is placed over the collar which contains a plurality of detents and a window contacting surface. The detents engage the collar and cause it to contract and also lock the ring and collar in place on the case. At the same time, the surface presses the window against the gasket.
