摘要: Provided are a backlight unit and a display apparatus including the backlight unit. The backlight unit includes light sources, light guide plates, and a bottom cover. The light sources emit light in a first direction. The light guide plates have first sides spaced a predetermined distance in the first direction from each other and facing each other. The light guide plates at least partially overlap each other. The light emitted from the light source is incident in the first direction to the first side and emitted in a second direction crossing the first direction. The bottom cover receives the light source and the light guide plate and includes a side border facing a second side of the light guide plate spaced apart from the first side of the light guide plate by an extension length of the light guide plate in the first direction.

摘要: A backlight unit 12 includes light guide members 18. Each light guide member 18 is configured such that a maximum amount of light exits an area of a light exit portion 31 located more to the front end than the middle of an area between an end of the light exit portion located adjacent to a light guide portion 32 and the front end of the light exit portion 31 when a distribution of the amount of outgoing light is measured. With this configuration, a uniformity of in-plane brightness can be further improved.

摘要: The present invention relates to a lighting device including a plurality of light source units U including at least LEDs 16 and light guide plates 18. The light source units U are arranged in one direction such that gaps S are provided between the adjacent light guide plates 18. Each light guide plate 18 has a first light exit surface 36A. The light guide plate 18 receives light from the LED 16. Light L1 exits from the first light exit surface 36A. A diffuser 15b that receives the light L1 from the first light exit surface 36A is disposed so as to face the first light exit surface 36A. Reflection sheets 24 that reflect light are disposed on an opposite side from the diffuser 15b so as to cover the gaps S. Each light guide plate 18 has a second light exit surface 36B in an edge portion that faces the gap S on the opposite side from the diffuser 15b. The second light exit surface 36B is formed such that light L2 exits therethrough, reflects off the reflection sheet 24 and travels to the diffuser 15b via the gap S.

摘要: An LCD device using LEDs as light sources provided herein is capable of reducing the manufacturing cost and the power consumption by a reduction in the number of LEDs used. A backlight according to the present invention includes LEDs mounted on a wiring board and a light guide plate having a matrix array of light guide plate blocks assigned the LEDs. The number of LEDs assigned to the block located in a peripheral area is smaller than the number assigned to the block located around the center to reduce the number of LEDs used in the backlight. If a ratio of the brightness in a peripheral area of the screen to the brightness in a central area is 60% or higher, the human eye does not perceive non-uniform luminance. Thus, the manufacturing cost and the power consumption of the LCD device can be reduced.
